And by the way, it's not english, is spanish.
It's not other people's fault that you are culturally inferior.

I confess to be hung up on the thought of answering such an idiotic response. But I decided to do it anyway.

Vast wealth of subtlety? Sure, English is pretty flexible, even fluid, which makes for its almost unending capacity to accomodate new ways of expression and certainly be almost as fast as human tought and knowledge. On the other hand it also accounts for a rough, homely, unfinished language.

As for intricate complexity... come on! Read a little: Spanish may very well be the most evolved Romance language. Just as English flexibility is very much based on its appalling simplicity, Spanish is all about strong, complex and well guarded rules, which are not easily understood and rarely followed through. Only champions of thought and masters of expression can use Spanish properly without fault, while almost anyone can write a decent article in English. Sadly this is why Spanish is much closer to become a dead language.

But I digress.

The way you write about Spanish shows either you tend to write/speak about things you don't know about or that you are some kind of racist.

Maybe all of the above.

reply

Worry not friend, I can see you're fluent in stupid so I'll try to oblige you thusly.

Firstly I only speak on matters that I know of, it's irrelevant what you say on this. So that's strike one. And as to my being a racist I hate all peoples fairly and equally, no matter their ethnicity. I can find fault in all peoples, no matter their skin color. So that's strike two.

Simple? English is one of the most complex in the world, that's the common reason given why it's so difficult for those not born into the language to master it. Hell even idiots born into the language use it wrong. I'm from Oregon, and for being fairly close to California, we get a large amount of Mexican runoff, let's call it. I know what I'm talking about here.

while almost anyone can write a decent article in English

That's funny, not almost anyone does. In fact, as you can see if you browse these forums often, not many do. Is that a failing of the language? Or the ability of those trying to grasp it? I'm sorry, your argument just doesn't hold water, Spanish is a simple, even gutteral language, with few of the complexities of English. The fluidity, vocabulary, wealth of meaning, even paronomasia (that would be word play or pun to the simple-minded, namely you), make English a vastly superior language. Strike three, you are outta heya!

Now if you had said Russian or French, a true Romance language, then I would accede to you, but sorry to say, yours was a fool's errand. Now, speaking to you (well, typing) has made me feel dirty and soiled, I'm going to go try and scrub my mind of your mental filth.

Ta.

[A note: all of this is an opinion, like yours; and as much as I'd like it to be, my opinion is not widely accepted as fact. I consider that a failing of the species, not a personal one.]

reply

All opinions being equal -and not being a fan of baseball- I choose to discard all of yours except regarding your assertion of speaking only on matters you know of:

1. Do you know Spanish? Are you capable of reading it as fast as you speak or type about it? Even you might notice that I am fluent in English (you see, anyone can write it). That's one for me.

2. What you so appreciatingly call Mexican runoff is but a variety of Spanish, roughly equivalent to Hip-Hop slang and just as dignified. That's two.

3. Gutteral? If you meant "guttural" then you might want to check again: French and German sounds are distinctively guttural, just as Hebrew and Arabic are. Spanish (even the poor version you sometimes hear yet surely don't understand) is simply not pronounced like that. On the other hand if you tried to make a new contribution to your language (gee, was that easy or what?) then let me say that if you had attempted such a thing in Spanish you could not hide your lack behind words. That's all.

By the way, I do not worry. If only all answers were so easily found.

reply

Ooohhhh. Okay, big mistake on my part then, I didn't know you meant real Spanish. I do apologize for that then, the only actual Spanish I'm ever exposed to is the low, truly gutteral Mexican variety, I guess you'd say faux-Spanish. But yes, as a language I do think Spanish is very nice, just not the kind you hear down here or in California. I still say English is the superior language for communication, full of much more nuance, but I will admit true Spanish spoken by a fluent speaker does sound prettier and far more elegant, though I wouldn't say as much as French does. But, in my defense you did insult me first, nay attacked me, although I insulted your language I suppose. Hmm, either way. Truce?

By the by, were are you from originally?

[Tambien, hablo bastante para hacer muy bien]

reply

You are right. I attacked you and for that I apologize.

I also think more than needed was said here (considering I haven't even seen the movie this board is about) so yes, I will be happy to let it lie.

And to answer fully, I was born and currently live in Mexico.

to everyone hating on me just typing the words "ENGLISH"; can suck it.
