Definitely Fincher.

Hail to the King, baby.

fincher and floria sigismondi

Steve Hanft, mainly known for his Beck videos but has done tons of other amazing ones, along with some amazing short films.

-David Fincher: would be a must-have
-Ridley Scott: would be so awesome, but probably not going to happen!

That is true, he has done literally thousands of commercials but only a handful of music videos that I know of.

I think Tony Kaye deserves a DVD. Runaway Train is a fantastic video and he has done some incredible commercial/experimental work.

He has a very limited resume of videos but that shouldn't be an issue.

Walter Stern

They should definately do one for Jonas Akerlund and probably Marcus Nispel, both have done some really great stuff.

I would also love to see a second part of Spike's DVD. One that includes his newest videos (which belong in my eyes to some of his best work) and also the "Video Days"-documentary. And there would be place for a lot of other music videos than on the first DVD. I mean, Spike has done over 40 clips and only 16 were on the DVD.

When a man's jawbone drops off it's time to reassess the situation!

Jim Blashfield (famous for his collage animation videos)

Whoelse is on the next set of Drector's Label DVD's? Which Directors?

reply

Jonathan Glazer, Stephane Sednaoui, and Anton Corbijn.

They're coming in mid-Sept! I can't wait!

reply

Spike Jonez and Samuel Bayer is kick-ass,

Twiggy Ramirez is God!

reply

who should be next.... wow what a long list i have...

Jonas Akerlund, Walter Stern, Wiz, Shynola, Hammer & Tongs (Garth Jennings), Paul Thomas Anderson, Marcos Seiga, John Hillcoat, Liam Lynch, Roman Coppola, Mike Mills, Evan Bernard, Francis Lawrence, The Malloys, Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Ferris, David Mould....

and so on and so on and so on.....

reply

Dayton and Ferris would be a great DVD. They've been making great videos for almost twenty-five years.

reply

The next ones will probably be (or at least I hope it will be) for Shynola, Jonas Ã…kerlund and Walter Stern
and if they're releasing a fourth one then Hammer & Tongs would be very nice !
...if only the next batch wouldn't take so long...

reply

how about Samuel Bayer and Phil Joanou

reply

Garth Jennings. He's a natural storyteller (even though I thought H2G2 was disappointing in many regards). His videos are fun and imaginative.

Glazer's disc just came out.

reply

Paul Thomas Anderson... granted he doesnt have as many music videos under his belt, but the ones he's done have been fantastic.

reply

Godley and Creme, who directed many of the first videos for MTV in the early 80's, including Rockit by Herbie Hancock. I would love to see those old classics on DVD.

reply

Jonas Ã…kerlund

Joseph Kahn would be perfect as well. He has worked with some really great artists.

They can include his videos, commercial spots, and info on his film career.

-LITTLE X, one of the greatest directors. Actually his work is like an urband romanek. Truth is it's in developmnet through palm for an urban take. Just hope they leave in "Biem" his opera, as well as his commercial for Noxema(blew me away). Plus videos; Shake Ya A, Danger, Thoia Thong, Where I'm Goin, Bad boy (forget it, he's great him and Hype can do no wrong, all great).
-HYPE WILLIAMS, the man who started the idea of having a collection of videos on dvd, until spike and them stole the idea. His came out first but bare. He is deserving of a full range to showcase his great talents of videos. Hell maybe even a touch-up director's cut of his film along with one for one hour photo.
-DAVID FINCHER, awinspiring visuals that give a dark look at the beauty of the world through the lense of this great talent. And it all started with a little sequel of Star Wars working on set.
-MALIK SAYEED, wonderful d.p. for HYPE as well for Spike Lee but even for KUBRICK himself on his last epic. He ventured into directing with profound greatness that surpassed many other hacks and though his resume as director is short it is filled with quality that put him in the forefront.
-MICHAEL BAY, known for great vision and wonderful eye. Damn near a maybe but still respect his vision and dedication. (taking a pay cut on Bad Boys for a single shot, also the same for Pearl Harbour)
-TERRY HELLER, wonderful director. The visual and emotions tug at my heart.
-NZINGHA STEWART, incredible eye, plus she's gorgeous.
-SANJI, almost every video innovative and damn sure surpasses the rich kid Spike Jonze.
-DIANE MARTEL:(or in order to compete with male directors used the name BUCKEY CHROME) very magnificent work.An incredible eye and a flair for showcasing a intriging idea with a way to let musician shine. Plus she is really pretty and attractive as well.
CHARLES STONE III, his great work with the roots, as well as his "wassup commercials should make for an interesting dvd.
I would never buy movie dvd's again. I'd study this greats over and over. The talent surpasses the crap hollywood is squeezing out. These folk have broke the mold and allowed us something new and great with indie feel. Thank you to the originators of starting it as art FINCHER and WILLIAMS, you are titans among the world.

I don't know who has directed any of them, but I've seen a handfull Fischerspooner videos that were pretty interesting. Maybe not Director's Label stuff, but I'd certainly pick up a DVD of their videos. Anyone have any info on directors?
