Worst film in the series

Next to Part 4 of course. Hell, even the recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D was better than this turd.

And why is that? It's one of the best (THE best IMO)~

1. Well developed, likeable, sympathetic characters. Dean and Eric are the two best written in the series, by far. TC3D lacked these
2. A solid, gritty, realistic atmosphere
3. A surprising (IMO) ending
4. A good chase scene.
5. It took itself seriously
6. The best gore effects of the series
7. It actually lives up to the massacre part of the title
8. Highly rewatchable
9. Doesn't ruin Leatherface
10. Doesn't try to tell us that cannibals are good people

Texas Chainsaw 3D is NONE of these. TCM2 is very few. It's by far better than those two

I dont get why people hate The Beginning so much, i saw it in theaters and thought it was great, and it instantly became my second favorite of the series (next the original of course :)) suspenseful, likeable leads and a great script help this film. It also holds a special place in my heart, because it was the first TCM film i saw on the big screen <3

so in case i didnt mention i second everything you say Scorpion :) its great to find someone who enjoys the prequel! btw i agree its better than 3D that film has bored me in recent days, and TCM 2 isnt bad i still enjoy it, but the Beginning has both films eclipsed

reply

Yeah, 3D wasn't very good at all. It's probably my least favorite. And I hate how Leatherface is an anti-hero!
Beginning is my favorite, personally :) The Original, 3, and the remake are great as well! And 4 is at least funny

Yeah, 2's not awful. Just not a big fan. Stretch was a great heroine though!

Scorpion I totally agree.... I don't know how anyone could dislike this installment. Almost as good as TCM03, IMO. I like the original '73 too, and that's about it. 3D was just .... bad. Great ideas but poor execution.

reply

I like Part 3 a lot as well :)
And Next Gen is of horrible quality, but it's SOOOO bad it's funny

I like Beginning the most, but I get liking one of the others more!
I agree wholeheartedly about 3D!!

I think it's easily one of the best. On par with the original in my opinion. Very underrated.

I liked this movie. Likable characters, good deaths.

I have been a fan of the original four movies since I was a kid. I probably believe this to be the worst in the series, but I haven't really watched it enough lately to compare it to the new film. My issues with THE BEGINNING have been repeated over and over. I just feel it's an overly gory rehash, and for a so called Prequel it explores little to no backstory, and apparently I am the only person on earth who found this predictable. The new film was unnecessary, but I give it credit for trying something different. Different as far as this franchise is concerned. THE BEGINNING however was unnecessary, and offered me nothing.

How's it less of a rehash than 3&4? :/
Also, just because something had a new idea doesn't make it a good film.... Because 3D is totally lousy

It isn't. It's just overkill, especially for a so called prequel.

Lousy interesting versus lousy same old crap.

Yeah, The Beginning is disliked by a lot because it basically copied everything from the remake, it just added the military sort of story line. The acting was VERY good, but it was just the lack of originality that kept it from being really good. Texas Chainsaw 3D was a HORRIBLE movie, but I gave it props for trying something different.

reply

I'll take a good movie that's not overly original over an unwatcahble "original" movie.

A shame because TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D I think is one of those films that could have been so much better. Course so could THE BEGINNING. Both still needed script work in my opinion.

A good writer could probably salvage some of its good ideas for when or if a sequel to 3D is made. THE BEGINNING wasn't going anywhere. There may have been room for one more prequel, but I would've wanted something different, and perhaps unexpected. I'm probably the only fan who doesn't want a prequel about the girl and her family seen in the remake. We already know what's going to happen to them.

*Abysmal new idea (not interesting, because it wasn't) vs. very well made but not overly original.

I'll take the latter. Unnecessary is the most absurd argument I've ever heard against a movie in a franchise. Really, not a single TCM film was necessary.

Part 2 technically was. After that, no.

This movie is one of my favourite from the entire serious, Hell I would just watch it for R. Lee Ermey, his performance was incredible!

reply

I wouldn't place this as the worst. I'd put it in fourth place but i've still not seen 3D.

Not at all. I actually think Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is my least favorite, but none of them are bad films. I like them all.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

This one's leaps and bounds better than 3D @ The Next Generation.
