If I watch this one before any of them due to a lack of the originals availability and me only having access to this one would I be fine?

Yes you would be fine. This is a prequel to the 2003 remake. Those two installments are separate from the original and its sequels.

Off the top of my head I can't think of anything in this film that would spoil the remake. For me, watching the remake first actually made the prequel more predictable. So go ahead and watch this one first.

And you will probably liked even Prequel (this one) than 2003 one. I personaly and many of people like more.

Yes, this was better than the remake. I actually wish I'd seen this one first.

That was one of my major turnoffs when I first saw this film. It's not as bad as I used to think, though. It's at least better than TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D.

I realize this comment was made nearly a year ago. I also realize the current generation of young'uns feel strongly entitled to steal their entertainment, meaning availability in part is controlled by torrent- and streaming sites. However, saying the original TCM (and sequels) lack availability after years of anniversary editions (there's been 3-4 releases just the last couple of years) is just factually wrong.
