Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy

Does anyone want to review a script I wrote titled "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy"?

Here's the plot...
"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy"
Length: 120 Pages
Tagline: Fear has a chain reaction…
Plot: The year is 1971. The Vietnam War is starting to slowly come to a close. But on the homeland, strange things are happening, and people are disappearing around the areas of Travis County, Texas. There, six buddies going on one last camping trip for the sake of old memories are lured into Sheriff Hoyt and Thomas Hewitt’s clutches. A terrifying fight for survival ensues that eventually leads to one of the most shocking, depraved, and chilling endings in cinematic history. Can you handle the legacy of fear?
The Skinny: There is some violence (but its not overdone) and all the Hewitt family members are in it (including Henrietta and Jedadiah, where it explains their origins) and there is also a new family member named Edwin (in respect to Edwin Niel, who played the Hitchhiker brother in the original). Also, don't think you know the ending just because its a prequel...

So far over 300 IMDb users have asked to read the script and have had it sent to them!

**If you Private Messaged me with your e-mail I have sent you a confirmation message that the script has been sent. If you posted your e-mail on the message board your user name is listed shortly after your post under one of my posts, along with the other people who were sent the script at that time. Because there were so many users, the list of users on this post had to be taken away. If you asked for the script and it was never delivered for some reason please feel free to ask again. New readers, of course, are encouraged to read.**

No, its not being made into a movie (as far as I know, haha). However, the working title for the third "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movie, which has been confirmed to be in production, is rumored to be "The Legacy" but could easily change (remember when "The Beginning" was "The Origin" or "The Birth").

"Wow!! The script is so cool. Did you write it all by yourself or did u

some help? You should turn it into a movie. Lol..."

Also, I was just wondering this... after I was reading the script over again, I began thinking of the soundtrack. In movies such as "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" where you are trying to return the audience to a certain point in time (the early 70's) music is very important. For those who have read it, do you think these songs would fit? Also, do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

"Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin (When the six boys first leave the motel in the beginning and the atmosphere is happy)
"Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan (at the end when **SPOILERS** someone is driving away**END SPOILER**)

Another review is in.

Let me first start by saying that I have nothing against you as an author – I really loved you masterpiece of horror scripts, The Hook, and that has actually become possibly my favorite horror story in years. I would also like to point out that I hate The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series and I find it redundant and dull. There is no creativity (take Saw for example) and it’s not scary (have you ever seen Devil’s Rejects – that is scary). This whole movie series is just pointless, and I only saw the remake because the trailer looked sweet. I have never seen the prequel, the original, or any other Chainsaw film because they are stupid, and I would not go see this script if it were made because it is another rehash of old ideas. Like every other movie in the series, it takes elements of movies like Wrong Turn and House of 1000 Corpses, only making them see ‘real’ rather than fictional. This script was well written, but do we really need to see Leather Face chasing down a group of six annoying boys? This doesn’t even have a hot girl to keep you interested. I hate the Texas Chainsaw movies and therefore I hate this script. I really did like The Hook though, which is years better, scarier, and more intense, plus it really does seem real as opposed to some freak wearing a skin mask and chasing people down with a power tool.

And here's a [partial] review from simply scripts...

I've been a huge fan of ALL the TCMs and when I saw this, it was like a GOLDEN oportunity. I read the first few pages and must say that I'm highly impressed. Even though I was extremely excited to read this, I half expected to see the script for a B-movie. You use some words that not alot of people know, which strikes intelligence on your part. For instance, when describing the Motel Room, you use the word 'DANK'. When I first read this, I thought you meant 'DARK', but decided to look it up before I criticized your spelling. I'll review the rest of this later on, tonight, I am looking forward to reading it all.

Another Review

**Spoilers**

Wow, that was off the chain! First thing you got to know, I almost got a little teary eyed when Dan and Justin were trying to got away, and then he died, and Dan had to go on by himself. Damn! That was heartbreaking. Other than a few spelling errors here and there, this was good. Like I said, it was off the chain! I could really see a movie made out of this script. Hoyt seemed to be exactly the same as in the movie, and I like how you brought things from the remake and put in this. Like, Monty and that dog, and I'm guessing that those pipes are what caused the basement to be full of water in the remake. Nice, man. A really good job!

Here are two more reviews

I just finished reading it, sorry I didn't start sooner, but I've been very busy lately. First off, I think you have some real talent. If you're not considering a career as a writer, than you should. I read it straight through in one sitting and to be honest, if some elements of your script had been incorporated into "The Beginning", then it probably would have been a better film, not to say that I didn't like "The Beginning". Now, after reading your script here are a few things I noticed:
1. The term HIV wasn't used until 1986, although cases of HIV and AIDS had been identified as far back as the 1950's. In 1971, the term GRID (Gay Related Immune Deficiency) would have been used.
2. Some of the dialogue for Jedediah seemed a little too complex for his character. In TCSM he didn't talk much, although I could make the case that some of the things that he's seen might have made him a little withdrawn.
3. I got to give you credit for the Edwin character. I liked seeing him as a combination of The Hitch-Hiker and Chop Top from the original TCSM and TCSM 2. Seeing his interaction with characters like Luda Mae and Sheriff Hoyt was a great combination of elements of the new and old movies.
4. The dinner scene was by far scripted better than in "The Beginning", I remember seeing that in theaters, and thinking "That's it?", I expected a longer dinner scene than they gave.
5. The dialogue you wrote, seemed very in step with what I've seen in the most recent two movies. I would remove a few lines such as "You're so dead you don't even know it". I know it was in the remake, but it did seem out of place, but then again that's just my opinion.

So all in all, a great script, I liked it. If you have any more scripts for sequels to various movies, I would like to read them.

NOT YOUR ORDINARY "CHAINSAW" STORY.

Maybe some spoilers will come ahead...

I've read sooo many fanscripts for TCM. Some are good, some are mediocre, and some are...well just fine. But this one was a great fanscript. I really can't believe that there's such a talented writer that don't work into Showbizness. I mean, the story was great, the scenes are imaginative and the dialogues aren't cheesy-just plain REALISTIC.

Seriously, I finished the story in ONE WHOLE DAY of reading it. I just can't take my eyes off on it. It was exciting, it was thrilling, the atmosphere is creepy and, as I said before, realistic. The character development was really great, specially Zeke and Justin, who are the two of the most memorable characters I've read in a story of all time. Zeke was actually amazing. I mean, losing all those friends surely gives me a breakdown, but he needs to survive, he needs to throw all those sadness away and fight for his life, and so he did SURVIVE. Another great character is Chris, who brings some good laughs and jokes in the entire story. He's bossy and goofy character was really fun to read.

What I really appreciated in your story was you make all of the characters sympathetic, but probably the most sympathetic character is Sean. I mean, he has a girlfriend, he wanted to start a family by himself, but ended up being killed by the heartless leatherface. I actually feel sad about him after reading his death.

I really wish that the next TCM will be like this. If I was a director and if I'm the one who is responsible for making the 3rd installment on the TCM remake series, I'll hire you as my scriptwriter.

Rating: 10/10-Excellent job, man!

Here's a review for "Slumber Party Massacre" from the same guy who reviewed "The Hook"

SLASH-TRASH
By Joe Biggs

The original “Slumber Party Massacre” was a movie which was made for one reason – to show half dressed girls getting slaughtered in gruesome ways. It took horror movies and added elements of pure adult films eventually creating a tasteless and trashy cult classic. The film was simple; sexy girls have sleepover which is disturbed by a manic with a power drill. It wasn’t particularly scary, yet it was one of the more successful and well remembered slasher entries of the early 1980’s.

I have just finished reading a script which remakes “Slumber Party Massacre” for today’s generation, and although it certainly adds more flavor the basis of the story draws from the same appeal – beautiful girls in danger. Most of the characters are described as excellent looking people, all fit to the right character stereotypes that they are supposed to be; the shy Asian girl, the loud black girl, the erotic Hispanic, and the heroic blonde are the sexy victims in this story. Even their boyfriends are described as being hunky all American boys.

The story is simple like the original but with more suspects this time around. Who would want to kill these girls attending the slumber party? Could it actually be the driller killer who has just escaped from custody? Could it be the creepy gothic boy who has a strange obsession with the host of the party? Could it be the host’s mental and jealous little sister? Maybe the overly attractive new guy who just moved in next door or the manipulative girl who wasn’t invited to the sleepover? How about the perverted principal, one of the girl’s ex-boyfriends… there are a lot of suspects in this story, which really drives it.

I have read other screenplays by the same author which are certainly better than this and the main reason why is because those have characters which deal with dramatic issues. In “Slumber Party” the characters are not only superficial but most are one dimensional people who populate the clichéd plotline. When the characters are being chased around you don’t really fear for them, and you almost get a pure form of enjoyment when they are in danger. I do believe though that this is what the author was going for.

Unlike many of his other horror scripts “Slumber Party” refuses to take itself seriously, which is its greatest advantage. We don’t have a story that believes it is going to be the next huge disturbing masterpiece but a script that knows it is a B-movie script written for people who want little plot, great chase scenes, outlandish gore, and of course a lot of girls running around wearing either their underwear or nothing at all.

I could go on and on about this story but the truth is that “Slumber Party” doesn’t need to have a detailed review accounting every character but it needs to have a fair grade. It could be a movie if they ever were to remake the original, and I don’t see why it couldn’t work, but it would never be a movie that people will be talking about for years to come. As I said “Slumber Party” knows that it has to be a fun ride for someone looking for a cheap thrill – whether that is a good or bad thing is beyond me.

This review I just recieved the other day. Its not a very positive one for "Living Nightmare" which was my screenplay I had ever written.

WORST NIGHTMARE – SITTING THROUGH THIS SCRIPT
By Kyle I. Plaque

Halfway through the script “Living Nightmare” we hear the character of Dr. Sutherland exclaim “You haven’t created a new form of the human race; you’ve created a new form of evil!” Well, those words can be transcribed into the story itself; author Zeke Jeffries has not created a new form of horror genres but he has created a devastatingly clichéd story that resembles pretty much every retro slasher that you could think of.

I do not hate this script, but compared to other recent horror scripts (some of which are written by Jeffries himself) this is nothing but a repetitive gore-hound with far too much splatter but certainly not enough guts. Nothing new is tested in this thriller, but the story is thrown overboard by ridiculous characters, cheesy dialogue, and a robotic killer. It is brutal at times, funny at others, however up until its climax the whole entire thing is a stressor to get through.

However, if you are able to get to the end chase scene than you definitely have a ride ahead of you, but getting there is the real struggle. The story is very much like “Frankenstein” in the fact that a creature is made to better the world and in turn destroys it because some things should never be tested. The story is about a psychotic named Jim Jacobs who was institutionalized as a child and soon forgotten by the world – except for a group of government scientists who experiment on him with different steroids and drugs in an effort to create the ‘super soldier’ which they believe would be almost un-killable. Through these tests Jim is made into a super killer rather than soldier, with increased strength, speed, and pain tolerance. However he’s still a sick maniac with a passion for death.

After Jim inevitably escapes, it is up to his childhood doctor Dr. Sutherland to find; stop, and possibly the killer with the help of Dr. Davis, a young doctor who helped turn Jim into what he is. Dr. Sutherland is much like Dr. Loomis from the “Halloween” series – soon overcome by his own fear of Jim’s evil. Dr. Davis is a character we’ve all seen before – the beautiful young lady doctor who seems hard but is actually very scared of what she and her company has done. The story really picks up when Jim targets an apartment building which houses a group of very different individuals who actually drive the story. You have your elderly couple, your three partying girls, your overwhelmed businessman, your drug dealers, your fugitive, your Paris Hilton-like snob, and your security guard all in the apartment building ready for the killing. Like many of Jeffries stories it is not the killer which we tolerate as much as his victims who all have interesting and distinct personalities.

I am not saying that this story is good or bad, it is mediocre. The good is the characters, the bad is the endless clichés. Jim Jacobs is sort of scary throughout the story but he’s definitely not going to ever make into Freddy or Jason’s realm of popularity. Dr. Sutherland is like a poor knockoff of Dr. Loomis, and the three partying girls who also happen to be the main characters in the hotel are very unoriginally scripted – you know which one will die immediately. I owe it to the script writer who has done impressive work in the past to at least try for a decent review of his script that may have not knocked me off my socks but for those willing to sit down for an hour or so it will entertain you. There’s not a lot of fluff here, there’s a large body count with creative (and over-the-top) killings, and there’s a very impressive final chase scene through the hotel which is actually intense at times and makes the entire experience worth dreaming about.
