This May Go Down as a Classic

I re-watched this again this past weekend, and I truly do think it has all the makings of a classic movie. It's not really "dated", and the subject matter is certainly timeless. It's one of those movies you can obviously watch and re-watch years later, and it can still interest you and get the same emotional reactions out of you that it did the first time.
And may I say, anyone who says Will Ferrell can't act-evidence right here, and in Winter Passing, for sure. I personally don't need any proof the man can act, but his performance in this movie blows me away every time. He plays Harold Crick in such a way, I can't imagine anyone else being able to make the character so memorable.
The supporting cast is great as well, and the love story with Maggie G's Ana is one of the sweetest ever put on film.

Just had to say once again how much I adore this movie. Quite possibly WF's best performance. Bravo ! And...that ending. Gets me every time. I think Emma Thompson could barely hold back her tears in her final scene with Dustin Hoffman. Kudos to her, him, WF, MG, and Queen Latifah.

Yes I agree. It's definitely a grower. I liked it at first, now I can say that it's probably my favourite movie since it was released. I class it in that special group along with groundhog day; I don't think I'll ever bore of them! It's funny how classics take years to become apparent.

"It's funny how classics take years to become apparent."

Not really, since time by definition defines a classic, much as it defines an antique.

It's not "sci-fi", it's SF!

It does have the makings of a classic. Groundhog Day is a tough bar though. That is one that I cannot help but re-watch once a year or so.

Could not agree more! this movie is IMO perfect!

This is definitely my favorite movie. The first time I watched it in theaters, it was during a very emotional time in my life where I was battling with issues about human mortality and the shortness of existence. I was bawling in the theater, yet I walked out smiling. I immediately got attached to this movie. I still watch it from time to time, and I can't believe it's been five years.

This is getting too serious! Kick her! Kick her in the head!

I couldn't agree more. This is one of my favorite movies. I hope it can get wider recognition.

What really strikes me here is Will Ferrel. I dont recall the other movies/ and performances of this year but surely he was considered for top awards because he nails this part. captures the innocent, good hearted, sincere and slightly aloof OCD harold crick perfectly.

great script, great message and story, and awesome acting by all the cast. 8/10

It's amazing that Harold Crick is also Mugatu and Chazz Michael Michaels.

Will was ignored at the Oscars, but nominated for Best Actor for a Golden Globe. He lost.

I agree. It's got such good writing, and the perfect chemistry among a flawless cast. One I love to rewatch.

It is a wonderful film, and I do wonder sometimes whether it will come to be appreciated with time.

FYC: Joel Courtney & Elle Fanning for Best Actor & Actress

I believe in a somewhat ironic twist Will Ferrel will be thought of as Harold Crick before Anchorman etc in years to come.

This is one of my favorite movies and definitely my favorite Will Ferrell movie.
