What happens at the end?

THIS SPOILS PARTS OF THE MOVIE CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TOWARDS THE END SO STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT.
Ok I have the movie and I'm going nuts, I don't know what happens. Are they friends still? Are they going to be lovers? Are they both gay or just Tobi? What happens, I wanna cry right now I'm not sure what happens, but the strength of the movie has gotten to me. Please, if someone can tell me what happens, I'll be settled. I don't know German so yeah. I just need to know what happens from the point of the last breakfast to the end what the cats and dogs song plays and he smiles.

Email me: slooksterpsv[at]gmail[dot]com if you know what happens. Please, i'm going ballistic not knowing.

Yup found out, omg its sad, the songs they put on there, really set the mood. I'm like depressed from the movie and wanna bawl, but it was a good show. I understand it completely now. (Learned how to get the Subtitles to work) Why did it have to end like that, why. :(, it ended good, but to me, it ended bad. but you know what's going to happen, but it still seems bad.

It could have been SO much worse! Tobi might not have accepted that he was gay, and this way, he also gets to keep Achim for a friend...can you hope for much more? No way is Achim ever going to be gay. Also, he's (Tobi's) accepted by his team--I'd say things come uo 99% roses! And the curly-headed blond on the Queerschlag team is awful nice...what do you want, a Hollywood ending?

I don't think Tobi has a real boyfriend --yet. One thing at a time!

That sounds like a great ending, and I haven't even bought the dvd yet. LOL

Looking forward to this movie now when I can find a copy in my native London, England. Daryl x

Excuse me, but why wasn't the first poster's question answered in the thread instead of by private email. The posting clearly states SPOILERS, so why the secrecy. I'm sure others would appreciate an analysis of the film's ending, and those who haven't seen it, well, don't read the thread.

I wanna know what happens, so I hope you're not referring to me there. D xxx

I loved the ending. Toby´s smile at the end is just hinting how he feels towards himself now, after having gone through the whole "emotional rollercoaster" in the camp...hes now "ready for the world". I love it, its a very understated but utterly effective ending

(it's been a month now, so if I make a mistrake...)

Toby comes into the diningroom, where the Quewerschglag team and his own team are sitting at two separate tables...he sits with his own team--good thing number 1!

After a few minutes, he kisses his one time soon-to-be girlfriend lightly on the mouth (they;'re sitting next to eachother). Everyone stops talking. He says "What's the matter? Can't I kiss a girl, just because I'm gay?" And everyone starts talking again, and the girl smiles. Good thing number 2!

After breakfast, as they are getting ready to leave, he goes up to Achim, and says "Is there any chance we cane still be friends?" (or something like that) Achim looks real friendly, but says something like "I want to think about it." But a few second later, they're squirting eachother with water from the lake, or a fountain, or a drinking bottle, in eachgothers' faces, and laughing..looks like Achim didn't really have to think about it after all. They still ARE friends. Good thing number 3!

I've been told that Toby's new gay friend, the cute blond with the curly hair, is seen a lot in the last few scenes with another guy, but no special issue is made of it; I'm sure he and Toby are still fairly close.

In other words--you couldn't ask for a better ending, keeping on the realistic side...as someone said, Toby is ready to face the world.

I didn't like the ending. Left way too many questions unanswered.

Sort of like life, huh? At least you can't expect them to be ANSWERED ALL AT THE SAME TIME...

"O, That blue, blue shirt of yours"

The ending seems a bit harsh. I wanted Tobi to be accepted and loved by Achim. But, I think that would have been too much to expect. Atleast, it ends on positive note where Achim is starting to accept Tobi.

reply

Well,.. ya can't always get what ya want...I think Achim's friendliness and acceptance is a whole lot more than Tobi would have gotten from a whole lot o guys.

I´ve got a thing for bittersweet endings but it really made me sad that Leo and Tobi dont end up together, Leo is just so perfect!

reply

Leo is sure hot. But give Tobi time. he'll find some one nice.

I agree with you--I think I was answering someone who wanted a 'happier' ending, and neglcted to say--it would be hard to think of a (realistic) happier one.

This movie showed for all of one week in Berkeley California--I think I was one of about 20 people who saw it. Are you all seeing the DVD or did it finally show up soewhere else in the U.S? When I think of the awful stuff that runs for MONTHS...I just don't undertand it.
