Lovecraft Homage?

Is it true that this film is just one long homage to or ripoff of Lovecraft's "Pickman's Model"?

as far as I know, Gaiman is a huge HPL fan, so you may treat it like a homage:)

He directed Mirror Mask, which was released in the theatres and on DVD within the last year.

You know, oddly enough I didn't make the connection between this and "Pickman's Model" until I read the first message here. Weeeeiiiird.

It gets mentioned from time to time. He mentioned it just recently on his blog in regard to Guillermo Del Toro producing it. It's all very vague, though. Pity the Good Omens/Terry Gilliam movie never materialized.
