Hey... anybody sudah tgk itu PGL play at Panggung Negara? I heard it was good. Newspaper critics also praise the play..... and people queing up at panggung negara... very rare ocassion!

shareI watched PGLM the first time they put it on at Istana BUdaya. Fabulous! And you know what - despite the hoohah about that Stephen Hughes Rahman guy being unfit to play the epitome of Malay Malayness - Hang Tuah - is totally uncalled for, coz watching the show, he didn't really leave much of an impression anyway. Was it the plot, scriptwriting or something? As opposed to the movie version, which was focused on the love obstacles of Hang Tuah and Puteri, the musical was more focused to the going-ons in Majapahit and Melaka prior to the estranged affair. Excellent! the village people scenes were the best, IMO. Extremely lively and awesome! And the biggest surprise of all was A.C Mizal's role as the Puteri's brother. Really, I've never been a fan of A.C but he was fabulous in it! and yes, he really can sing.
did anyone catch the show where the understudies performed as the main cast? I'd like to know how good they were, compared to the original cast.

Hi guys, PGLM is in Singapore for this weekend and having just returned from the Esplanade, i have to say that it was superb. The sets and the costume, especially at the Port of Melaka, was stunning. And the music, yep, during the intermission everybody was giving their own lyrics to the tune wherever they were; be it in theatre, at the snacks/bar counter or even in the restrooms! It was that catchy!
And yes, Stephen Hughes was unbelievable, a point magnified by the fact that he's a Brit. All in all i really enjoyed the musical. This is definitely one musical that breaks all cultural barriers. So if it's playing near you, then don't miss it!
i saw it last saturday at the esplanade in Singapore...SUPERB performances by all the cast and crew..IM obsessed with PGL tak rugi beli tix $97 muahaha
