I know this movie was pretty much trashed but I liked Bill Bob Thorton and thought it would actually have some funny moments.

I was dead wrong. The movie simply was not funny. It is kind of a major fault for an attempted comedy. It was not like this was trying to be a dark humored movie. It did not have a single funny scene.

This movie could have been funny with better writing. Even in the very mediocre Bad News Bears remake, it at least had some funny lines such as "Baseball is like a German Chick. Sometimes you love it but it doesn't love you back"

Yeh, have to say I only laughed twice in this movie...A tad disappointing!

It really wasn't funny with the same concept of every typical comedy out there. I was so bored watching this movie. 2.5/10 and I rounded this one down!

It really is one of the worst comedies I have seen in a while, and its really a shame because I like a lot of the people involved. Just bad.

I agree- I *wanted* this movie to be funny! I saw the previews & was really hoping it would be, but it wasn't. Most of the scenes with the kids were just sad and cruel and the movie had little to no point at all.

Just not funny- I was disappointed.

I couldn't even sit through this movie. It just bored the living hell out of me. I maybe laughed once.

I got through about 30 minutes of this movie and just turned it off.

The first 10 minutes was painful enough, I was hoping it would get better, but it just didn't.

If I wanted to laugh I just might watch the trailer again. But I'm afraid the movie has probably drained all the fun out of the trailer.

i thought it was funny. my parents watched it and didn't think it was funny at all. but i thought it was hilarious. my dad doesn't even think 'the office' is funny. but i think it's cause he is old. so are you all old?

nope, definitely not old, 19 actually. Though my mom did fall asleep about 10 minutes into it.

I just didn't get the humor of the movie. Maybe it was Billy Bob Thornton's character. I did like the Astronaut Farmer, and School for Scoundrels.
Some people may find it funny, and that's all well and good. Everyone's entitled to have their own opinions.

Just saw this movie,and hated it until the last 15 minutes,where John thought he killed woodcock.Thats where I let out a big sigh,thinking that would be a perfect ending,but no,they have to bring him back to life.The movie was too mean spirited for me to appreciate it.

Anyone agree?

Oh, you thought the movie would be funny and he ruined it for you by telling you it won't? =\

I'm not gonna debate the wisdom of going to this web site right before watching the movie (I usually go on after I see it), but I'm curious, did knowing the ending really ruin an otherwise enjoyable experience for you?

Re-read that and tell me it's not a spoiler. As to coming on to a message board before watching a movie, it's not as crazy as you might think. I come one to see what other people thought about the film, much like how people check out reviews that are spoiler-free by Ebert & Roeper. There's a reason why people are told to write "spoiler" when they write a spoiler. It's because there are some things that you should warn people about. There's also many topics that don't contain spoilers which you don't need to notify people of. That was one of those topics until the above quote was added.

(I'm not being sarcastic here, seems like most people hate it, I wonder if you actually enjoyed it, or if at the end you just didn't care like the rest of them?)

I don't know about this film, but Anchorman has got to be the most NON-FUNNY comedy I have ever watched. I could barely sit through it and yet some people like it, ...that the movie was lamer than *beep*

Same here. I saw the bad reviews for the movie, but being a fan of Sean William Scott and Billy Bob Thorton, I decided to go see it anyway.

What a waste. Honestly, maybe the most boring movie I've seen in the last couple of years. I also just didn't laugh during it. I think his friend made me laugh once or twice, but that's it. And the scene at the fair with the eating contest was just plain stupid. I almost left then but decided to stay just to give it a chance. If I could go back, I would have went with my first instinct and left the theater.
