Why did this look and feel like a TV movie from the 90s?

We can disagree on the quality of his work, but at least Marc Forster's other stuff (yes, including the stuff before this) looked & felt like feature films with a cinematic release.
This - to me - looked & felt like a made-for-TV or direct-to-video movie from the 90s, and I can't really put my finger on how or why...
Agree? Disagree? Comments, observations, opinions?
