I live in michigan and I was just wondering what city
this movie is about to take place in. I know they mentioned
Ann Arbor, but is it supposed to be right outside Detroit or
more on the west side of the state?

I live in Michigan, too. WOO. Anyway, I was wondering that too, because I would be kind of mad if they were here and I missed it. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm about to watch it in 20 minutes so if I recognize anything, I'll post (though that's extremely unlikely).

I don't think she did say a city bc it was just "the suburbs of Michigan"
but I'm glad they are actually going to start shooting more movies here now,
instead of just "pretending" they took place here lol
it was actually filmed in Los Angeles, Vancouver and Victoria BC...

It was definitely filmed in Victoria, BC. I remember the food court when I went there for vacation and ate at the mall. That's the only place that we ate at...

When the grandmother dies, the area code for Hospice is 248. I would guess the primary action happens in Brighton, or more likely, South Lyon. Either place is a long drive to Ann Arbor, but with nearby clinics, and malls with food courts, and big old houses.
shareAs people have said it was filmed in Victoria BC which is already a popular city with tourists, in fact tourism is Victoria's biggest industry. The neighbourhood it was filmed in is the Uplands which I lived in for many years and is Victoria's nicest suburb where the average house is probably worth well over a million dollars. The fact it was filmed in my old hood was actually the whole reason I saw it because I don't usually watch these kinds of movies.
