with all the sexy and violent movies....it is so good to know that the hallmark channel is airing this movie. For those who missed it last night it will air Saturday, April 22 on the hallmark channel at 7pm check your listings to make sure time is right. This is a movie I hope will be released on dvd. I would buy it..This is a wonderful family love and reconcilation story.
I'm watching this right now (for probably the 10th time) and have enjoyed it every single time. The only thing that bugs me is when they arrive in the ER and Syd explains Jake's symptoms. She says there's pain in the upper left quadrant. In the medical field it's always said as "left upper quadrant (LUQ)." I still love it and will probably watch it again tonight....lol.

Unfortunately, the whole neuroblastoma part of the storyline and "chemo as a precaution" is a load of crap. Considering how long he supposedly had symptoms, there's no way he'd have survived as long as he did to begin with. Neuroblastoma is the absolute worst cancer a child can be diagnosis, and if not caught early is almost always fatal. A friend's son was diagnosed at age two, went into remission after his first treatments, only to die less than 3 years after his initial diagnosis. Another boy - the son of a friend of a friend, lived less than a year after diagnosis. I've read stories of infants living only a month after diagnosis. There's no way this boy had symptoms since infancy and lived so long untreated.

It didn't jive how she immediately knew what was wrong with him and gave the attending physician a slew of detailed instructions which included calling a surgeon, without having examined him or looked at an x-ray.
(I would have gone with revisiting Syd not handling loss well by making her mother the one who was ill and having her realize all the years she let pass and coming home could be the last time they're together unless her mother pulls through. )
