Who is the couple that welcome him after his accident ?

Does anybody have an idea who is the man who is picking up Loic from the hospital after his accident ? It could be his parents though he is supposed to be an orphan...

Emotionally orphaned, I took it. It was certainly parents (although we sensed clearly it might have been step-father). Still, an odd segment in an odd movie.

I took them to be his parents. The long look his mother gave him was probably supposed to have some import though I thought it odd as well.

How is he supposed to be an orphan? His mother is never mentioned & the only time Loic mentions his father (while Marie is teaching him to drive) Marie cuts him off & tells him not to mention "that bastard."
The couple are his parents (& that is his childhood bedroom) and the lack of time spent with them serves to reinforce his emotional isolation from them. I'm guessing that his parents rejected him for being gay, but once his life was in danger they took him back (tho Loic still rejects his dad, he won't even allow him to touch him when they are leaving the hospital)
I like that Baier doesn't focus on this aspect of Loic's life, IMO that would have been a bit trite.
