Possibly....................he said he tries not to eat...which would give him stomache aches.....maalox would coat the stomach and the asparin might take some of the pain away????????????

Well, they seem to say that the Aspirin/Maalox compination is a hungerstopper, not a drug-to-make-you-high sort of thing.
Never tried it myself though and to be honest I had never heard of it before watching the movie, though in the movie they imply that it's a well known combination...
I wondered too . . . after the movie I googled aspirin and maalox in various combinations and along with hunger, etc., but nothing popped up . . . lots of hits but mostly medical or irrelevant. It's either a European thing or something they just made up . . . sure would like to know . . .

The production of stomach acid siting in your stomach sends a signal to your brain that you are hungary. I know that if you take mylanta (and probably other antacids) before a meal, the acid production stops and you feel full a lot sooner.
Loic mentions aspirin in Lionel's car but at the first john's house we see him go to he steals tylenol (Dafalgan) from the guys medicine cabinet. I know Tylenol stops stomach cramps that can happen from hunger. Aspirin actually hurts my stomach with food so on an empty stomach it must be worse. Maybe Loic just meant he took any over the counter pain reliever because I imagine advil would work also.
I don't think there's any benefits just by mixing them together.
