Did he really meet the footballer?

Or was it a dream sequence?

It struck me as odd that the footballer would come jogging around the corner like that. From earlier scenes I got the impression the footballer lived in a city, so unless Loic had stalked Rui so much to learn where his mountaintop hideaway then it all comes across as too coincidental.

Then there is the dreamlike quality of how their encounter is filmed, like the snow scene. And it seemed unlikely Rui would be so trusting, inviting him into his house and leaving him alone with his kid.

So when I saw Loic in the car I thought it was all a dream. Maybe he was trying to kill himself and ran off the road in purpose, then had a dream of meeting Rui, which helps him on the road to achieving something in his life. What do you think?

Also - is Rui a footballer in real life? He didn't strike me as a professional actor and the photos of him in the newspaper looked very real to me.

It was a dream sequence. He took Marie's car after finding her dead (in Lausanne) and crashed it into a snow bank (on his way to Fribourg) on a turn in the mountain road. [Insert dream sequence.] Then he woke up in the hospital.

If it's the same person, seems to be in Cape Town now, working as a football agent and restaurateur.
