Oh My God...This is so underrated....

It's one of the best movies I've seen. I can't believe they managed to do a video adaptation this good. And it was made in 2005!! It stands the test of time amazingly!
Maybe I'm just a huge "Aliens" series fan and that's why I loved the feeling, but it's something that we needed in contemporary cinema.

My ratings are not always like the IMDB average score because I only enjoy intelligent movies.

The sets, the monster costumes and actors were all good. It just needed a good script and some more demons from the Doom lore.

And a far larger budget.

I just watched it for the first time today (2016) and I have to say it's far better than I expected! Thefirst part reminded me of alien, great atmosphere, no monsters, only a good build up... sadly I think the problem here was a lack of budget on the fx part (maybe they went over budget with the cast?). Anyway, I can understand why doom fans did not like it as it has little to do with the game, but aside of that, it is really much watchable!

Is this a joke posting . The movie was terrible. It had no direction , the plot didnt even
follow the video game, this was more a movie for the Rock to ham it up in and he stinks.
In fact Johnson stinks up any movie he is in, the guy could not act if his life depended on it. Note to Hollywood, hire better writers and avoid hiring people who basically phone it in - avoid hiring anyone who used to do reality shows or fake sports like WWf etc.

It didn't have to follow the game plot to be a good movie.
It was one of the best sci-fi movies in the decade. Karl Urban is a good actor. Johnson was ok for the Army leader part. Plus, he got his ass wooped, so it's not like it was a movie just about him

More monsters, better actors, director and script.

As a huge fan of the game DOOM this was a huge letdown just like Resident Evil.

Yeah, I always felt it was needlessly underrated. I mean, for a futuristic action flick, it did it's job, and it did it well.

Doom was a pretty good movie. All the whingers complaining about the lack of Doom elements have no idea how many things from Doom there are actually in the movie. As a standalone film, it had a great script with a couple likeble characters, a great concept about DNA and a good build up to the action. It reminds me of Aliens and Predator, and the casting of the Rock and star Karl Urban was amazing :D Go into it thinking it's gonna be exactly like the game and you'll be disappointed. But go into it with an open mind and it's actually a great standalone sci-fi action flick :D

While not a good film by any means, I too was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I found it entertaining enough. Video games don't make good movies because what makes a video game great isnt the story, it is the interaction and immersion. Movies require different things to be good and trying to turn a video game plot into a film never works, or at least I haven't seen a film that makes it work yet.

Yeah, this movie doesn't deserve all the hate it received. It had tons of practical effects and sets, especially this being a science-fiction movie set on Mars. I especially love the "Death Match" at the end between The Sarge and Reaper. The gunplay felt authentic as well, sans the chaingun lol
