Sounds good

Is this a crime film? Or a character based drama?Or both?

it's a depressing and overly-graphic (but well-shot) family drama centered around the most horrible person i've seen on screen in a while. i'm not usually one to care too much about sex and violence in movies, but every single rape/sex and/or fight scene are lingered on for way too long. we get the point of the scene in a minute, but the scene will go on for five. the director might have done better to fill out the story more, instead of constantly trying to shock his audience. sadism never seemed more boring.

Usually we would agree but not this time.
The truth is brutality is seldom convenient and over before it gets too uncomfortable. Even after the stone has shattered the surface and forced its way uncompromisingly to the bottom, the ripples continue over and over again.
Sadism never seemed so boring? The violence was a motif drawn out to make the viewer find the need to stay dame! Yamaete! The fact that you Retroo did not find the “sadism” entertaining enough says more about you than a failing of the film

It's not really that shocking.. It's just a pretty awful film. I'm a huge fan of 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano's, but this is a badly paced film that holds next to no surprises as to plot.

It's a bit over the top sometimes. I remenber the scene where one of his mistress tries a dress (with some kids around her) Kitano's character comes closer and *BING* he punches her in the face. I was like ROFLMAO !!!

The film is based on a real life individual (Kitano's character). It's a protracted, violent, really quite harsh look at the endless cycles of violence and hatred in several generations of Korean immigrants.
