Uniforms

I went to school in the 1970's and we had to wear skorts in gym. Our girls teams also wore skorts. (a cross between a skirt and shorts). In the movie the girls in all of the teams wore shorts. I didn't grow up in Oklahoma but I think most of the US was like us - girls wearing skorts. We also had to wear skirts or dresses to school until approximately 1970. We were forbidden from wearing pants unless it were winter. Only on days where the temperature was below 32 degrees were we allowed to wear pants UNDER our skirts or dresses until we got to school and had to remove them.

Just wondering, was it like that in Oklahoma in the 1960's?
