I liked the film also ,but I was surprised that it had chosen the sixities for its events ,though Sixities in general were famous as an era for freedom of mind and breaking rules ; an atmosphere many people of the (Siixties generation) say it almost doesn't exist anymore . but it exited all over the world at that specific time .

I 've heard that the father character in the movie is a symbol for the Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser and the time he ruled Egypt (remember the death scence which is synchronized with the speech of Nasser after 1967?) . I don't know if this theory is true, but if it is, then it would be natural that the events of the movie happen in the sixties (The whole country and everything was going on at that time are zoomed in the family of the little boy).

Ellen Roark: What would Harry Rex do?
Harry Rex Vonner: Cheat. Cheat like crazy.
