BAABUL has stormed the U.K. charts


'Baabul' superb in U.K., decent in Australia!


BAABUL has stormed the U.K. charts, fetching an impressive start in its opening weekend. In terms of screen average, the film is better than RANG DE BASANTI [£ 5,822], HUMKO DEEWANA KAR GAYE [£ 4,604], PHIR HERA PHERI [£ 3,482], KRRISH [£ 4,576], LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI [£ 6,136], DON [£ 5,715] and UMRAO JAAN [£ 3,487]. At the rate it's faring, BAABUL should easily cross the entire business of BAGHBAN in U.K. [£ 748,028] in a few weeks from now. In Australia, BAABUL has had a good average start.

Meanwhile, the biggest hit of the season, DHOOM 2, has crossed Rs. 21.75 crores [gross] from the five markets -- U.K., U.S.A., Australia, New Zealand and Netherlands [see figures below]. Phenomenal!

BAABUL has debuted at No. 8 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 289,907 [approx. Rs. 2.53 crores] on 45 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 6,442. Note:- £ 289,907 includes Thursday previews [£ 12,263 on 21 screens] and Friday-Sunday weekend collections [£ 277,644].


DHOOM 2 [last weekend: No. 10, this weekend: No. 14]: In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 78,405 on 48 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,633. Total: £ 1,039,223 [approx. Rs. 9.13 crores].


VIVAH [last weekend: No. 23, this weekend: No. 42]: In its fifth weekend, the film has collected £ 2,645 on 7 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 378. Total: £ 257,132 [approx. Rs. 2.26 crores].


UMRAO JAAN [last weekend: No. 35, this weekend: No. 51]: In its sixth weekend, the film has collected £ 1,017 on 3 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 339. Total: £ 414,571 [approx. Rs. 3.64 crores].


RENDU [Tamil; last weekend: No. 43, this weekend: No. 53]: In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 875 on 1 screen. Total: £ 10,923 [approx. Rs. 9.60 lacs].

That's nice, I guess people love family drama more than anything. But it is a really good movie and should be worthy of this.
