Breakfast on Pluto starring Cillian Murphy maybe...

Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, ... okay so those last two were just filmed in Ireland without being Irish Films per se.

Colm Meaney has been in many Irish films, some better than others

Man about Dog is another one of Tom Murphys films - very funny film. I'd highly recommend it.

Michael Collins - Brendan Gleeson

The General - Brendan Gleeson

Veronica Guerin - Cate Blanchett

My Left Foot - Brenda Fricker and Daniel Day Lewis

These are just some of the Irish films I'd recommend!!!

'Bloody Sunday' if you're looking to be traumatised...

Nah, it's a good film in all seriousness.

'The Wind that Shakes the Barley'

'A Film with Me in It'

'Song for a Raggy Boy'

'The Butcher Boy'

'The Magdalene Sisters'

... not sure how Irish that last one is since it was written and directed by a Scottish man (Peter Mullan), but it is set in Ireland and focuses on the Irish Convent Laundry asylum for 'fallen women'...

Jeez, most of those are pretty depressing, (not that that's necessarily a bad thing) but it does seem to suggest that Irish films are more suited to the dark and dreary side of things. Kind of like the weather, I suppose.

I can't belive no one has mentioned Angelas Ashes or Disco Pigs!!

Two of my favourite ever movies

Also there's A Man of No Importance but that's really quite boring lol

"Who SO Ever does NOT DIE 4 LOVE is DEAD MEAT"

Disco pig's has Cillian Murphy's best performance and is actually quite a dark tone to it. Brillant

Even worse, Bloody Sunday and The Wind that Shakes the Barley were directed by Englishmen!

If you liked "alan and paul", you'll probably also like Garage. It was made by the same team, directed by Lenny Abramson & written by Mark O'Halloran. It's set in the country & is a lot more bleak. It's probably one of the best depictions of isolation you'll ever see.

Republicans dont watch stand up, theyre busy watching cartoons, trying to see who's gay.

A film with Me in It - Ian Fitzgibbon
Pavee Lackeen - Perry Ogden
Crush Proof - Paul Tickell
I went Down - Paddy Breathnatch
Angel - Neil Jordan

And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo...

I Went down needs to released on DVD cause its a Irish film been sadly over looked when in the fact its one of Irelands best films.

Crush Proof is fine. its great up to half way when it starts losing its way.

Kisses is a great little film about two teenagers in dublin. Very dark but very touching
