A list of not well known Irish films to watch

I've seen a few of these lists which sadly go for the most well known Irish films, which sadly is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to great films in Ireland. what i'm planning to do here is probably mention a few films that don't get mention on here cause they aren't as widely known sadly cause some are actually are very good films. i will write the list of the least known irish films. If some of the films are on youtube i put (YT) next to it.

I.E some of these films might not be to everyone's taste

Hunger-(2008) a true story about hunger strikers in northern Ireland starring the Great Michael fassbender in a career making performance. Not to everyone's taste (very art house)but certainly one of the films of the 2008.(YT)

Nothing personal-(1995) another film about the troubles in Northern ireland, this time told from not the IRA side but the UVF in the '70's, Good little film with Ian Hart on great form. Well worth checking out.

Borstal Boy-(2000)based on the book by brendan Behan, it has possibly the strangest of things a Top performance by Danny dyer playing agaisn't type. A decent little film only let down by the lead playing Behan.(Yt)

32A-(2007) a Touching little coming of age film about four teen girls. Got a little cinema release in ireland, the acting is top notch especially the lead Ailish Mccarthy. Very hard to find especially in Ireland on DVD but worth getting. Directed and written by Aidan quinn's sister and he stars too.

Crush Proof-(1998) this film splits people down the middle. Its not great but it's well worth checking out about a young man getting out of prison and rejoining his old gang. The acting isn't that great but the film is very strange in that it goes all over the place.

On the Edge-(2001) Cillian murphy stars in this film about sucidial patients discovering their true selfs in a treatment clinic. Well worth watching with a great performance from Murphy(YT)

The Disappearance of Finbar-(1996)this is one tough film to get your hands on even in Ireland, a young Johathan rhys meyers is Finbar the young man who disappearance drives the film. Its bizarre but Beautifully shot with a good performance from the two leads.

Kisses-(2008) a very underrated film about two young troubled teens in Dublin, a lovley little film very Ken loach in style this film is driven by its two leads. The best Irish film in years.

if anyone else is interested in more little known irish films i be interested to offer more suggestion's

Thanks for your list. I've seen three on your list; look forward to trying to get my hands on the rest.

No one I know (and I have lived in Ireland (north and south), England, and the U.S.) including my Irish friends generally or my film-buff friends generally ever seems to have seen "The Butcher Boy." I don't think of it as an unknown film (Neil Jordan directed, with Stephen Rea, brilliant performances by the two boys, one of whom has been in other films, great supporting roles for Ian Hart, Fiona Shaw, Sean McGinley, even Sinead O'Connor, for feck's sake,in a brilliant turn as the Virgin Mary; and all based on a novel by Pat McCabe, a best-selling author). But no one ever seems to have heard of it. Must be hanging out with the wrong crowd, because it is one of my favorite Irish films. Actually, one of my favorite movies.
