Inane adaptation of ideas from other films

Supernova was a blatant rip-off of ideas and even scenes from other films. What is especially funny is that the scriptwriters did not seem to care whether such "adaptations" would make any sense in the context of their own film.

1. As in Armageddon, we see fireballs hitting Earth. But the fireballs in this movie were far more "intelligent" and they were able to single out parrticular landmarks and even people - e.g., the Taj Mahal, two fornicators and their hut on a beach in the Maldives.

2. The idea of a "Noah's Ark" or strong shelter to enable a seclected group of people to survive the disaster was obviously taken from Deep Impact. But how would that help when the whole Solar System was about to be destroyed?

3. There was even a totally irrelevant subplot involving the serial killer that was a rip-off of Cape Fear. But this time the villain took all the trouble to travel across Australia to get even with a former woman witness, when the whole world was expected to come to an end in just a few more hours.
