I love this series.

This wasn't the first KR series I watched.

I had watched Kabuto first having been a fan of the older kamen rider series (the original for instance). I never watched any other "kamen rider" until I saw Kabuto as a PS2 game.
Since the ps2 game was good, I was interested in watching the actual show and enjoyed it.

Since then I watched, Kabuto, Den-O, Decade, W, Faiz and finally Ryuki.

I gotta say, apart from Den-O and W, this is definitely one of my personal favourites of the series.

The story is incredible, quite deep, many interesting chars all with deep unique and interesting personalities, a nice balance of humour and light hearted moments vs action and drama moments, nice soundtrack.

This series is a few years before Kabuto and Den-O, but watching Ryuki, you can really tell that many of the later series borrowed heavily from the concepts and ideas of Ryuki.

In Ryuki, they had riders with very complex personalities and their own goals. Many of the riders are not clear cut good or bad but a mix in between. Riders fight each other.
If you watched Kabuto, you'll notice this theme of rider users with complex personalities and fighting each other for their own goals is reused in Kabuto as well. Inspired most likely from Ryuki.
Both ryuki and kabuto also had multiple riders.

Masato Kusaka from Faiz, has a personality that is similar to Ren. Just watch how ren acts and treats shinji in the earlier episodes where Ren is massively arrogant and over all just nasty. You'll recognise that personality being similar to Kusaka who maintains that personality throughout the faiz series (where as Ren becomes better and starts to treat shinji better in later episodes)

The personality of Kickhopper is very similar to the personality of Ohja.
Very cold, cool and deeply warped.

Finally Den-O and Kabuto also has a mix of action, interesting chars and events to balance the action. It's quite similarly done to Ryuki where the show isn't totally dark, or totally serious but has a nice mix of humour and light hearted moments.

Also, I forgot to mention one of the most obvious similarities:

The personality of Kagami Arata (Gatack) from kabuto is similar to that of the main character Shinji (ryuki).

Both shinji and kagami are rather naive people who only belief in doing what's right.
They both have a rather black and white perception of things.

Because of their naive actions, they often do things which get them in trouble or tricked and need to get bailed out.

In particular, Kagami has one of his trademark quotes where he says: "riders shouldn't fight each other".

I believe this was a reference/tribute to Ryuki where shinji - who spent all his time trying to stop riders from fighting each other, would say a similar quote.
