Watched It For The First Time This Morning

How good is this f'ing movie..? I have no idea why I put off watching it for so long. I really don't.

I've poked through the threads and seen where some people find some of the characters totally confusing or thoroughly unbelievable but, I thought it was extremely well done.

The cook/waitress--husband/wife.... I've known people like that. Wife's libido is still very very strong but the husband can't always perform, he'd turn a blind eye as long as he knew who she was gonna bang. He'd rather she be safe and get laid than do it secretly and he not know who she's with or, she flat out leave him because of her needs. I notice from some of the threads that's one of the main things viewers didn't get.

I also enjoyed the relationship between the waitress and Lou Ann--Mike's wife. The small parts that add up to the sum were well done, imo.

When he gets to the "wife." I laughed. That fit right in with the rest of the movie.

Great movie. The people seem "human" and likable. And overall the scenery is gritty.

If you know anything else like this please let me know. I've got some down time from work and I'll be binge watching all kinds of movies. I've seen "Winters Bone" which I feel is along the same vein but, I may watch it again as it's been a while.

Hey Crash, I absolutely love 3 burials too. An unforgettable classic in my books. Real narrative power and real poetry too. Rich, complex, beautiful, funny - what more could you possibly want from a film? The only thing I can recommend off the top of my head as a sort of cousin of this film, and not certain exactly how they fit together, is John Sayles's LONE STAR, with Chris Cooper, Kris Kristofferson, Matthew McConaughey, and Elizabeth Peña. Good luck finding the dvd - maybe it can be streamed somewhere?

Cheers,

Manton

I agree you two. This is a powerful movie that stays with you. Smart all the way through and the ending didn't disappoint.
