Is this the same movie that was nominated for best foreign language film? If so I'm surprised to see how low it got in the rating.

yip it is the same movie that was up for an Oscar - I was also surprised at the low rating as this is a beautifull film - try to get to see it!

You might also look at the demographics of the votes on the film. I may help you understand the low rating. It may also give you a sense of where AIDS awareness/sensitivity lies in the minds of the various voting constituencies.

Yes, it is the same film that was nominated in the BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE film category.

As to the low rating, you need to look at who voted. HIV/AIDS is still a touchy issue with many people. Most would rather ignore it.

Yesterday, is a great film, I saw it on HBO and was glad to see that the producers had the guts to talk about African insensitivity to domestic violence and the ignorance about HIV/AIDS.
