One of the best movies

I've seen this movie at least 5 times and I'm sure I'm not the only one who found it to be truly amazing and heart warming. Despite dealing with difficult issues such as alcoholism and divorce it was also able to beautifully depict the real and powerful bonds of family. This was also enhanced by the extremely high quality of all of the actors and their ability to make the characters both realistic and lovable, despite their flaws.
The only bad thing about this movie is that it was not given the attention it deserves. I hope everyone will at least give it a chance and take the time to rent or buy it. It is definitely worth it.

We just checked it out from the Boston Public Library, and the title was Wah-Wah. The DVD is by Sony Home Entertainment, a 2006 release.

Man this is one of the finest films available to humanity. We didn't know what level of quality to expect, but I think it is one of the best films I have seen in a long time. It is an incredibly humane portrait of highly flawed parents from the point of view of a sensitive yet strong young man.

If you like this film, you also might like other films about late colonial Africa: the German "Nowhere in Africa," 2001 and the French "Chocolat" of 1988.

Just watched on Netflix Instantly. I'm puzzled by the low IMDB rating though. Great film all the way round. Richard E. Grant should keep on writing and directing films!

Yes - I'm glad I made the effort to watch it on BBC1 last night... I thought it was an excellent little film... It's very rare for Gabriel Byrne to be in a film I actually want to see. So, I tend to forget how good he is... And, of course, the rest of the cast is excellent too.
