Jeebus! Truly unfunny, boring and insulting.

Who gives a f... about what the previous poster thinks? The other critics I read were very good, so don't rely on just a single critic or what a single person on this board thinks.

I saw the movie at the Savannah Film Festival, where it nearly put an entire audience of avid moviegoers and industry people to sleep. That's how I saw it early.

As for the guy who said something about how I was trying to take the Usual Suspects quote for yourself...grow up.

And thanks to the guy who posted the link to the review. That was written by me.

This movie was absolutely great. It does not "suck." Your language betrays your level of discernment, so I'm not surprised it went over your head.

Best review I've ever read in my entire life. Great arguments, amazingly written...

I'll never try to watch that movie, of course!

Just kidding...

Actually, he used the comma correctly. And the movie is awesome.

reply

Just watched it. It wasn't good and it wasn't horrible. I gave it a 4/10. I understand it was supposed to self-indulgent and make all the actors out to be egomaniacs. That just didn't work in a 1.5 hour movie. It does however work on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Extras. This just seemed badly derived from those shows.

reply

Different things please different folks, I guess. I find Extras to be utterly unwatchable, but loved this.

reply

Half of it was very boring. If they would have showed more of the musical...it might be watchable...........it is like a Home Movie.

reply

The movie wasn't bad at all! I actually loved it.

You need to actually listen to the movie while you're watching it! I think you need to have a bit of brainpower to actually watch it to understand the basis of it.

Some people above are just writing a bunch of nonsense and bullcrap reviews. I don't get that at all.

I will go as far as saying some stuff wasn't needed, but DID in fact add to the overall "whatever-mentary".

Loved Pittsburgh and can't wait to see it agin.

Always an active duty Jr. American Gladiator!

I got quite a few chuckles out of the movie. And I don't even care for 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.'

It did remind me of the movie about Leno and Letterman battling over taking over from Carson.

P.S. It's too bad Goldblum and his gf seem to have broken up since the movie was made. Oh well . . . they'll always have Pittsburgh!

reply

"...they'll always have Pittsburgh!"

Awesome. I laughed at that one.

reply

yeah it really is pretty bad & boring. its pretty much like theyre not even trying.

I hate how IMDb signatures look like part of the post.

I appreciate your point of view, but give me an intelligent posting as to WHY you think this is so. Thanks - that is always a help.

You've nailed it! And if you really want to hate the film even more, watch the deleted scenes on the DVD. And watch them with the commentary! Some of the deleted scenes are actually funny--and the writer-directors say on the commentary that they deleted them because they didn't "fit the tone" of the film! I S you not!! Apparantly they actually WANTED the film to be boring and unfunny and cut out anything that was even vaugely interesting or comic!

reply

Thanks for the heads-up on the bonus scenes. I'll give them a chance if there's actually the possibility of humor there.

As for the film itself, I found it excruciatingly dull, and I didn't so much as laugh or crack a smile once. The premise is actually quite good, but the film itself feels like a collection of deleted scenes. Christopher Guest has nothing to worry about. 4/10 stars from me.
