Annoying bad acting, casting,etc

I just saw it and wanted to make a few casual observations:

The guy playing modern Ahnold looks nothing like him and sounds nothing like him. he has the same cadence, but the voice and accent are all wrong. I found his acting just very distracting.

Roland kickinger seemed to do his best Dirk Diggler with an Austrian accent. For one thing I think he is too big to be Arnold. I mean I think Arnold competed at only around 220lbs. The bodybuilders in this movie are huge compared to the guys from the 70s. Everything from Kickinger's hair to his speech and wide eyed little boy/retard persona looked like a Dirk Diggler impression. I was waiting for him to burst out singing or yelling at Jack any minute.

Well, I guess Mariel cast as skeletor came off a little better than I expected. I usually think of her as a big headed lesbian and/or sex monster, but she seemed to do an OK job. A lot of the minor characters were well acted.

I'm not really sure if this is supposed to be campy to the point of being bad on purpose, but even if that is the intent I think it missed its mark. It would have better for Ahnold to be either more authentic or a little more toned down IMO.

Actually according to his profile here on the IMDB, Kickinger is 1 Inch taller than Arnold, but he weighs less than Arnold's competition weight. So he is almost the perfect size. The problem I find is that the actors impressions of Arnold were off in some ways. At times Kickinger did the voice perfectly, but I don't think his voice was deep enough. The actor who played the older Arnolds problem is that, one, he should have been a little bigger and two, his voice changes too much. At times (very few times) I didn't think his accent was that bad, but when he whispered the accent dissappeared and at times he almost did a JFK impression.

I stood next to Kickinger in a bodybuilding contest, and I've also stood next to Arnold, and I can tell you that Kickinger is much taller.

I never thought of Shriver like that, but now that you mention it, it actually makes perfect sense. Great stuff! Thanks for getting me in stitches.

they shouldn't have made this movie because you can't realistically cast someone like arnold without it coming off as cartoonish. you could say the same thing for casting a movie based on professional wrestling. can you imagine what that would look like, casting hulk hogan or the rock? that would be an epic terrible movie!
