Utterly Commercial Dreck

This is a painful piece of film to stumble upon. Initially, I thought I
was watching a Nissan ad, until the ill-fated concept floated to the
surface (no pun intended). I have to wonder whose money went into this
abortion, as it lacks any sort of distinct flavor or style. It
seriously looks and feels like a television ad. There's absolutely no
trace amount of either heart or soul within the production. The
director of this film is the obvious byproduct of a generation caught
in an avalanche of droll commercialism and an industry that frowns on
any demonstration of personal style on the part of any sort of artist.
In fact, the concept of film as an art form is dead. With that said,
it's fairly obvious that this is, tragically, a director conforming to
industry standards.

On a conceptual level, this film is a complete embarrassment. Imagine
if mongoloidism were communicable, and you were pummeled in the
forehead with retard erections... remove the element of titillation,
and you can peg this watching experience as absolutely mind numbing. In
one eye, out the other, as they say.

Also, I think the majority of these votes and comments have got to be
contrived by the director on several fake accounts in effort to wax his
own ailing ego and somehow validate his effort. I'm alarmed this got
into so many festivals. In fact, I am going into production on a short
film this December that is largely inspired by this film. I will return
to post links to my short by February of 2008.

For the director, a word of advice: learn to adapt to your material.
Nothing flows or matches here. This is the cinematic equivalent of
wearing a cocktail gown with a pair of jeans underneath. Knowing my
luck, that's a trend that will catch on.

Your light-hearted friend,

Thanks for noticing Max.
Your 'review' renewed my faith that the movie did exactly what I intended it to do. We poked FUN at everything about "Formula" (what you refer to as 'Utterly commercial dreck"). So, again, your 'insight' is much appreciated. And though we purposefully ridiculed Hollywood Formula, Hollywood ate it up!! Imagine, Hollywood eating up "PooP"!
Subsequently, it's 'commercial' value proved to be more than any of us expected when we made it. It screened in over three dozen film festivals worldwide, won some awards, and was picked up by Atom films where it streamed for five plus years and produced a lot of revenue for ME (hallelujah!). Afterwards it was purchased by Comedy Central and aired weekly for over two years producing even more income for me. It also exhibited on many over seas flights on numerous carriers, and in European theaters (having no dialog makes a movie far easier to market worldwide).
So, yep, you're absolutely correct, this movie proved to be extremely commercial (even though the intent was to mock commercial 'formula' films).
The only thing I am not getting from your 'review" is how you could mistake a Mercedes SL for a Nissan? Maybe it was the production value that made you think of major automotive manufacturer ad spots? I know advertisers thought so, because when I was hired to direct national spots, this little movie was a contributing factor.
Again, THANK YOU for your spot on assessment of "PooP".
