Was it just me?

I saw the preview for this on Monday, and refused to watch it. It looked completely insulting and sterotypical towards gay people in general. Gah, just thinking about it makes me angry.

Dawn: (through door) Whatcha' doing?
Buffy: My boyfriend. Go away.

It was somewhat stereotypical but it did shed some light on gay people, and the hardships we face. it may help for those people that still don't understand gay people:)

I am gay and I liked the movie. It was better than A LOT of low-budget gay-themed movies out there that try to pass as legitimate movies, but in reality end up being basically soft-core porn, because a lot of people assume that gay men only care about sex. I just rented Partner(s) and I while I enjoyed the movie as a whole, I did find it annoying that they relied on gay stereotypes throughout the movie A LOT! For instance at the restaurant Michael Ian Black's character takes his roommate to meet some friends and the friends instantly recognizing that the main character was straight. That scene made the assumption that all gay men are extremely obsessed about their weight and working out or that all gay men are flamboyant and talk with a lisp. The truth is the absence of a lisp or hand gestures does not mean a man is not gay. There's a wide variety of gay men as well as a wide variety of lesbians. Have you heard of "lipstick lesbians"? It is unfortunate that the movie tended to use stereotypes in an attempt at what the director and producers thought would be humorous to the audience. In reality, the use of stereotyping ended up coming off as slightly annoying and childish. Excluding that though, I liked the fact that the movie didn't really involve much nudity, although sexual innuendo was definitely a part of the film. If I had to rate it, I'd give it an 8/10.
