This stuff is not real, people.

Here's the "reality" for you guys. This stuff was staged with actors. Yeah, it's funny and attacks a concept that depsertly needs to be made fun of, but it ain't real.

Proof? How about the fact that it's A NATIONAL LAMPOON MOVIE!

reply

the guy that plays the "amazing racist" is in IBM and diet coke commercials.

reply

have you seen it? how gullable are you? its pretty obvious if you watch it that it is in no way real.

yeah its obviously not real. on the "Money" segment where he drinks the ipecac, the liquid is dark. ipecac is a clear, syrupy liquid used to vomit up poison, 90% of the time it comes in a 10ml bottle. if he had drank that much, he'd be puking for at least 12 hours straight more than likely more.

reply

fake or not, this *beep* rules !! amazing racist is the greatest :D

reply

"The Amazing Racist" stuff is real, this is Ari Shaffir's whole shtick. they let the people in on the joke later on, and paid them to sign waivers.

reply

In some cases, the other people were actors and knew what was going to happen beforehand, according to a biography on him.

Maybe they mixed the ipecac with soda or something, I mean, it was in plastic soda bottle... It could have been a small amount, but simply dilluted or something... you ain't no CSI beeyotch!!

And why would they say that "He Said, She Said" show has law suits currently being played out and all that?? Just for shock value??

I know some of those are "real," if not all of them...

reply

some of them are real for sure...

how else do you explain the american sex star pilot being picked up by playboy tv?

reply

actually the ipecac one was the only thing that seemed real. how else was he puking so much. can you fake puking like that?(really, please tellme if you can) all the rest even the amazing racist and hesaid she said was fake. funny but staged. i think some of the kkk at the gas station was real like the guy that "actually" wanted to kick his ass unlike the other guys that just told him to leave. come on the laundry guy would have punched him at least. just listen to the dialogue of the "victims" in any of the sketches and their reactions, just doesnt seem real. even "the whore" during the last guy when shes dissing him , wasnt very good improv...and btw shes a pornstar named monique alexander. the "winner" in psych ward is laughing as hes fighting with the guy at the end. like "breaking character" laughing

and did anybody notice that the car that gets stolen from the car wash is a blue audi and then in "he said she said", the car that theyre having sex in is a blue audi? possibly the same one that they had on set?

believe me i found most of this *beep* hilarious, but im jsut trying to point out stuff that seemed staged...funny nonetheless

reply

That guy was laughing the whole time. Him laughing was moreso him staying in character. But true, all this is fake.

reply

Did you look the ipecac guy up? Lance Ozanix has the ability to vomit on command.

reply

There was a show in the UK called "There's something about Miriam" which had the general premise of "He said, She said."

There actually were lawsuits from the show which delayed it being aired here - that's probably where National Lampoons got the idea for it from.

That was some good watching.

reply

You guys are too gullible :)

The ipecac guy is Lance Ozanix, whose claim to fame is--you guessed it--his ability to vomit on command. Google him and you'll see, complete with pictures proving he's the same guy from "Money" supposed being paid $500 to drink ipecac.

reply

Its true Ari Shaffir lets them know after the shoot is done, so those are real. So is some of Money, especially on Lost Reality 2. Just GOOGLE shaffir and you will find news articles about him and how he is suprised that they do sign the waivers. Also scare me was very successful in Europe, you can usually see the DVD's on late night info commercials. National Lampoon is about comedy doesn't matter real of fake.

reply

that's tragic that the ipecac sketch was fake. most of them are obviously fake but i really held out hope for that one. if that were real it would just be a billion times better. i also wish the terminal cancer one was real. but this thread should be listed as a spoiler, because the dvd is much funnier when you're trying to figure out what's real and what isn't.

reply

ive watched this and there are a couple of things that i think are fake but there is definintly some that are real in there

> This stuff was staged with actors.

That was quite obvious. The segments just always seemed to hit a sour note, leaving me only noticing the elements that just couldn't be real, rather than laughing at the parts that were slightly funny.

For example, in the shows that were labeled as "promos," they gave away the whole plot line and all the surprising twists. If it were a real promo for a real show, no one would watch the actual show because they'd know all the twists.

So, were any of these actually real pilots for serious shows? And, I don't mean pilots that were filmed just for this movie, like The Amazing Racist seemed to be.

I just wish to add that in the Netherlands we had a show like "Money".

It wasd called "Over de rooije" en people received 1000 guilders to do all kinds of questionable things. The stuff they show on Lampoon is kids stuff compared what they did in the Dutch show.

No need to find actors for that, trust me.

In the world of Reality TV, "reality" is always a debatable topic.

Once you turn on a camera, everything becomes unreal...reality is defined with how you coach performers, where you point the camera, how you edit.

The question comes down to:

Was there a script with written dialog?

Are the participants actors?

Question 1: its pretty clear to anyone who has seen it, no.

Question 2: Clicking the names of the cast, I don't see anyone who qualifies as having an acting "career."

While some of the footage was likely shot in order to fill out the running time of his tape, it's just as "real" as "the real housewives of up-your-ass."
