Serenia

Anyone else get hopelessly lost in Serenia? It's a beautiful age, one of my favorites in the series, but it took me an hour to find the proper offering AND get it to the right Spirit Guide. And this was when I was playing the game for the second time! Zip mode helps a little.

This is nitpicking, but there seem to be a few anachronisms. The game is supposed to take place around the 1800s (I think), but Yeesha says "cool" and one of the Protectors says "This is so not good" when Sirrus trashes the harvester. And Achenar says "Screw up". But who cares. The game is awesome.

I don't know where you got the 1800's thing... I think the Myst series is supposed to be timeless. But admittedly, I thought "this is so not good" was a little awkward - especially since they're supposed to be such a majestic group of people! :-)

But yeah, that forest sucks. I'm about to go hunt for my spirit guide.

That forest was EVIL! I had to go download a map about halfway through or risk hurling my computer out the window.

I've always seen the series as comparatively modern, although the clothing style is probably based off of 1800s (somewhere in the century) so that might explain the thoughts about 1800.

Wrong about the comparitively modern concept. While the D'ni are a modern civilization, it takes place during a time period where the Earth's surface dwellers are still going through the Industrial Revolution.

Notice that the events of Reveltion take place in 1825. Although it isn't until 2005 that Myst 5: End of Ages takes place. Atrus is an old man at that point, around 250 years old. His D'ni blood allows him such longevity.

The true nature of the Myst timeline doesn't become apparent unless you play through the Uru series. I admittedly haven't, but I've read enough for it not to matter.

For some reason everything looks exactly the same at every turn, and now that I have taken a brief break from it I am scared to even try to pick it up again. Also, they are a different culture (technically a different species, I think) so some of their apparel is outdated according to modern standards. I think everything they have tends to just be more natural and nature-based.
