Horrible Movie

Aside from the main character performing well, this movie stunk. It was a bad knock-off of Requiem for a Dream for about the last hour, and was basically a crappy after-school special. I think the only place you can rent this is via Netflix, so I am glad I didn't actually pay extra money to view this.

To Marty: The Frank Zappa impersonation was pretty good.

I think if anything it's a more somber knock off of Spun. I personally liked it very much, thought it was done pretty well.

I made the incredible choice of watching Spun and Most High back to back and I think it is really unfortunate to find the necessity to compare movies about drug use to each other. I have seen Requiem for a Dream and basically every film featuring a fast-forward drug sequence and hazy, jerky camera angles will be a derivative. Done. But Most High had acting. Spun was a worthless piece of garbage. The performance by Marty Sadler should be enough to distinguish it from similar drug genre films. Akerlund and Aronofsky had quite the A-List of actors to waste in their films. This guy did it all by himself. I was thoroughly impressed by Sadler's acting and I hope that we get the opportunity to see more of his films in the future.
