So, I still don't get the significance of the swing. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Even the writer(s) of this film couldn't help you answer that question. But I suppose it was to represent a ghost...Akai's ghost first materializes soon after he dies, and gets the swing going...

I think it represented that they were all in a happier place. Together. o_O
