And I attended a screening of the film here in L.A. earlier this evening. Outstanding documentary, and present at the screening were the directors as well as Deep Throat director Gerard Damiano. The film made me sad in a strange way. The old geezers interviewed in the film all seem beaten down by the Deep Throat legacy. Though they are all portrayed in a sentimental light, there seemed to be no genuinely happy outcomes within the porn world for these folks. They gave of themselves and weren't left with a whole lot, despite Deep Throat's massive earnings. They shaped porn as an industry and helped the U.S. open its mind more to sexual depictions, but we are left with the feeling of what could have been much more had porn continued to strive for real artistic acceptance in theaters (as opposed to relegation to video). Anyways, very enjoyable, and I will likely see it again.
