I will be watching this movie with interest to see how she is portrayed in this documentary and how much credence is given to her claims of "being held captive for immoral purposes".
I remember hearing that her claims were pretty much discredited, but don't remember the details or whether or not she ever tried getting an injunction against Deep Throat or suing for damages. I doubt she would have any claim against the documentary, but it could still be an expensive headache to get her claim thrown out, so I wouldn't blame the filmmakers for trying to avoid that.
I wonder if Thora Birch's mother participated in the documentary, or if she's trying to have that part of her past forgotten.
I also wonder about the logistics of how they got "inside" Deep Throat. I would have thought there was no more room left.
Her autobiography is interesting though I found it hard to accept that everything she did was as forced as she indicated. For the sake of investigation I watched Deep Throat after I read the book and she looked happy enough in some scenes though she also looked as though she was drugged in some as well. Personally I'd like to see an interview with the German Shepherd she slept with as mentioned in the book. I want to know HIS side of the story.

I'd have to watch the film again to give an definite opinion on whether I consider it to be Thora or not. I have to say that I tend to think it would be her as a breast double would likely have a more perky look. They are chosen to be breast doubles because of a certain stereotyped look they have.
if you're talking about Thora's nude scene in "American Beauty," they're hers. i think they mention it in her trivia section on this site. she was underage, but her parents consented because they thought it would be fitting for the scene.

LOL During the leadership campaign for the Conservative Party of Canada, this one candidate named Belinda Stronich advertised her website www.belinda.ca. But a lot of people instead visited www.belinda.com which happened to be a vanity site created by an art student full of her nude photographs and erotic poetry.
Of course Canadian news stations do a story about it and misdescribe the .com site as a "porn site", and so this art student mysteriously finds herself getting millions of hits.

I doubt if they were waiting for her to die. SHe was only in her fifties. If not for an auto accident, she might reasonably be expected to live another 25-30 years.
Depending on how the film treats her, I don't think that Linda Lovelace would have objected. A couple of years before she died, Linda Lovelace collaborated on a memoir called "The complete Linda Lovelace". According to her co-author, she had made her peace with her identity as pornstar, and enjoyed the contact with her fans.
Brian Grazer was originally planning a Linda Lovelace bio-pic with Angelina Jolie, but her death actually made them decide on a documentary of the original film. The directors of this doc. said Lovelace's death caused a problem with "story arc" for a full bio-pic.

Well it's no "Splash" or "Far and Away". I think a story is what you make of it. Sure, there was a lot of negativity in her life but she didn't die a forgotten drug addict in a corner. She turned her back on a life she considered sordid and went on to have a family and campaign for what she saw as fundamentally good for the community. There must have been positive aspects that could have been brought forward. I would still like to see a movie made of her life.

Wow. Road of Death is, hands down, one of our newest favorite Bad Movies of All Time. The other big hits from director RENE MARTINEZ, JR. were the blaxploitation films Guy from Harlem (1976) and The Six Thousand Dollar *beep* (1980, starring Wildman Steve). Producer JOSEPH FINK released a handful of still-obscure regional rarities in the Sixties (such as The Devil's Sisters and Hell's Chosen Few) through his company Thunderbird Pictures. And Carol and Jack... well, they went on to do the 1979 pornos Candy Goes to Hollywood and Sweet Savage (with Aldo Ray!) before getting hitched. We hope the rumors about them and Thora are true because we love the idea that the Jack Birch who manages Thora's career is the same Jack Birch seen going berserk here, and hope he kicks some executive ass at his next Hollywood meeting.
The rumours mentioned above are true and Thora is very sensitive about talking about her parents. I used to have a link up there to a DVD collection of her mother's work, but due to the graphic images involved it got deleted. There is a definite resemblance here and there.

I bought a book of erotic photography which was arranged by decades; the earliest section was very early photos whose photographers and models were unknown. One of the earliest pictures in the book was dated 1911(?) and showed a 20-something nude brunette posed near a pond. The strange part was that she looked spookily like me (and one of my sisters), so much so that when I showed the book later to a friend she thought it WAS me until I showed her the date.
I reckon the woman must've been one of my great-grandmothers or great-grandaunts, which would constitute evidence (albeit merely anecdotal evidence) that the tendency to take one's clothes off in public (or at least in front of cameras) can be inherited!

I once went through this box of old photographs passed down through my family. We have no idea who the people are in many of them. At any rate there was this one really old photo of a man in a stereotypical explorer's costume (e.g. pith helmet) standing in a jungle between two smiling, naked native women.
