Sandford and Son clip

They had a clip from the TV show, Sanford and Son, where the characters talked about seeing deep throat. However, the guy who appeared to be playing the character of Fred Sanford was clearly not Redd Foxx. What is the deal with that? I looked up the page for Sandford and Son here on IMDB, and there is no mention of a different actor playing Fred Sandford. Does anybody have any information that might shed some light on this mystery? I think that clip would have been 100X funnier if Redd Foxx were there. He was hilarious!

I remember that part, I'll have to give this doc another screening very soon, it was really well done. It should make for a cool double bill with whichever Linda Lovelace forthcoming bio movie is better. The clip wasn't with Fred Sanford it was with his best friend Grady played by Dick Gregory. Sanford & Son was a good show too.

Yes, that was a clip of the character Grady, but he was not played by Dick Gregory. That was an actor named Whitman Mayo.

Thanks for clearing it up, guys!

I haven't seen this doc but I believe this is the episode:

Tyranny, Thy Name is Grady

It's mentioned around the 14:00 minute mark but referenced as "Deep Threat."
