I'm having trouble loading the game

I rented both Getaway and Getaway: Black Monday. They both do the same thing. The intro starts with the music and showing buildings in the city which turn into lines that turn into different buildings, etc. Then the music reaches a cresendo and the screen turns black, as if the game is about to start, but it just starts the intro all over again. I hit every button on the controller and nothing happened. I switched controllers and even plugged in both of them. Then I thought maybe I had too much stuff on my save cartridge so I deleted a bunch of stuff and it's still not working. It can't be my system because I own GTA: VC and GTA: SA and they both work fine. Can anyone help me out? Thanks for any info!
