I cried like a baby

Im not 100% sure why that is.

But watching this movie for the first time, I cried like crazy. Im never one to cry duing movies, but for some strange reason this movie really touched me. I loved it.

There were certainly some emotional scenes that were well-acted and brilliant:

1. When Judd shows Violet (the mother) the painting of Georgia that Beagle made, and her subtle acknowledgment of its quality

2. Beagle and Georgia in the hotel room when he has second thoughts about doing it. Awesome scene there.

3. When Easy and Marg were talking in the truck outside the cabin. He admits to his weakness and repulsion of his wife in her final moments while praising Beagle and ultimately defending his son's quality of character to Marg, who had previously stereotyped him as a loser.

It's scenes like these that make the movie great, and if you found yourself not engaged by them, it's a good bet you didn't enjoy the rest of the film.

Just saw it today for the first time (rented from our town library) and loved it. Excellent performances all around. I "lost it" at the end when I started thinking about the very few years of life remaining for this beautiful girl -- whose portrayal by Kristen Stewart was phenomenal.

Rest in peace, Roger Ebert. You were the best.

I did also... I seen it twice now but years apart. It's good they make a movie like this now and then... It's just the way it was made a touching film throughout. It had a sad feel overtone but in a good way.
