[SPOILERS] Major translation error in swedish subtitles

Hi there!
In the swedish subtitles of the DVD (the official one, of course), there is a major mistranslation. When the doctor is telling Adam about the priest Ivan's childhood, the doctor says that the priest and his sister used to be sexually abused by their father. "They got so much c**k that they could never sit down riding their bikes." However, the swedish subtitles say that they used to get SPANKED so much... The sexual abuse is never mentioned.
The mistranslation does not occur in the other subtitle languages.

Must have been a bad translator for the dvd version. When I saw the movie on the cinema, the translation was as the doctor said: that he was *beep* by his father not spanked.

Those people who make subtitles make so many errors. In almost every single movie!

I saw the movie dubbed in german and in this version the doctor also talks about sexual abuse not about spanking. Did they write their skripts for the dubbing from the swedish subtitles or what?

Ich glaube, dass die deutsche Version schon richtig ist. Der Doktor sagt auch im Original, dass Ivan und seine Schwester in den A* gef* wurden...

oha, man darf "in den arsch gefickt werden" sagen ? weshalb werden eigentlich soviele postings gelöscht, ist das nur wegen bestimmten worten oder weil die aussage an sich zu pöbelhaft für den admin ist ?

The automatic censorship reacts to specific words, but only in english. There are no admins to run through all the posted messages (and man! is that a job I wouldn't want!). I can write *beep* all I want, but it's automatically replaced by, yeah, well, *beep*. Sheisse, on the other hand, is not. Nor is $hit. Or Sh*t. There are ways of going about it.

About errors in subtitling: There are many, and maybe also too many. However, it's mostly due to the fact that subtitling is generally not paid well enough, so that in order to make a living off it, you can't spend more than a couple of days on each movie. That makes for sloppy work, but through no fault of the subtitler. It's all because of the money-greedy executives in the distribution companies.

Oh, and by the way, the whole sexual abuse thing might very well be a reference to "Festen" ("The Celebration"), where Ulrich Thomsen is the one who's been sexually abused along with his sister.

Just saw it on Amazon Prime and it said they were "farked" black and blue by their father.
