Re:This game doesen't suck

I repeat...THIS GAME DOES NOT SUCK!!!! I have bought it, played it, beat it, and beat it again. The controls do not suck unlike what was said in the user comment, because when you think about it, when does a FIRST PERSON shooter allow you to change the thumbstick controls (besides Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six, which are third person shooters). Also, the bacta stations only make the game easier since you don't have to fool around with medpacs, first aid, etc. I don't know what the person doing the user comment was smoking, but they must have gotten pretty high to think this game sucked.

I'm not sure what versions of Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon you have played, but (at least on Xbox) they are FPS, not third person. This game is supposed to be a stratagy game, and I don't understand what is so stratigic about having bacta stations/med packs. You get shot, you lose health. Just as if you were out on the battle field.

In response to your comment on the thumbstick layout. Most FPS games allow for thumbstick changes. Halo (1 & 2), Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Star Wars Battle Front (you can make it 1st person although it is not by default), Jedi Academy, 007 Nightfire, 007 Agent Under Fire, TimeSplitters 2, Thirteen, Red Faction (1 & 2), need I continue?

I don't know if you have ever played any other games before, but it sounds like you haven't based on your incorrect statements. You think I must have been high for not liking the game? Just because you like something and I don't, doesn't mean there is something wrong with me, nor does it mean there is something wrong with you. We just have a different opinion of what the game should have delivered. I thought the story was excellent (from what I finished anyway). I just felt that the game didn't deliver up to what I was expecting.

Thanks for your opinion.

halo is the most overrated game of all time. see one fps see them all

First off, I have based my CORRECT statements (except for GR and R6, because I played the GR2 demo and it was 3rd person). Second: WHO THE HELL HAS THE RIGHT AND LEFT THUMBSTICKS SWITCHED (besides this pot-smokin' moron who says the game sucks)?!?!?! Third: you obviously haven't based one of your facts either. This is supposed to be an action/FPS/war game NOT STRATEGY. Do you see ANY hint of strategy game in some of your games like Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six? Didn't think so. Do you see anything like building forts or commanding waves of slodiers to attack and control enemy forts in SW:RC? Didn't think so. Do you see this game from a sky-view camera? Didn't think so. And finally, have you ever seen a strategy game besides Roller Coaster Tycoon on a game console, not PC? Didn't think so.

Wow, the flames are getting kind of hot here, but I can take it.

Let me answer your questions:

1. WHO THE HELL HAS THE RIGHT AND LEFT THUMBSTICKS SWITCHED

A. Left stick turn/move foward & backwards is called (by many games) Classic. Some games even call it default.

2. This is supposed to be an action/FPS/war game NOT STRATEGY.

A. Perhaps my saying "strategy" was confusing. I'll admit it could have been misleading. The reason I referred to it as stratagy, is because (unlike in Halo) your objective is to be steathy. You succeed in your mission not by running around shooting a full clip into someone, but by going through the mission as undetected as possible.

3. Do you see ANY hint of strategy game in some of your games like Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six?

A. Refer to Answer 2 and I think you will agree that by the definitions set forth in that answer... Yes.

4. Do you see anything like building forts or commanding waves of slodiers to attack and control enemy forts

A. No, but refer to answer 2, and you see that I wasn't expecting that.

5. Do you see this game from a sky-view camera?

A. Again, No.

6. And finally, have you ever seen a strategy game besides Roller Coaster Tycoon on a game console, not PC?

A. It depends on you definition of strategy, I suppose. I guess what I had mistakenly called strategy should be called... what, strategic FPS? I don't know.

All I am saying is that I had a set of expectations for the game, and it missed. When developing games, developers should remember that not everyone wants to use default controls. You need to give options. It needs to be customizable. I have played games using the "classic" because it was easier for me to switch my hand/eye reflexes from N64 controls (1 thumbstick that was move/turn & 4 yellow buttons that were for look up/down and strafe). Flame all you want, that's fine with me, but when it comes down to it, I didn't care for the game, but you did. I don't care that you like the game. Why do you care that I did not. I hope we can agree on one thing, because I haven't seen you refute my opinion of the multiplayer, that the multiplayer was poorly implemented. No co-op missions in a game that calls it's self squad based? And have you ever tried getting with some friends to play on Xbox Live (or what ever you use to play online, if you play on line)? On Xbox Live it is (or was at release) hard as hell to get an entire party on one server, much less on one team.

Enjoy your game.

The way I see it is this- the develepors went for Star Wars Halo. For single player I think they did really well, and I actually have much more fun running through RC's campaign then the convoluted cluster that is Halo 2 (not dissing that game either, but it did get wierd). Multiplayer in RC fails hard, but single player is really fun.

That's my buck-oh-five.

Here's a few explanations:

FPS = First Person Shooter = Shooter viewed from the characters view. f.e. Quake

TPS = Third Person Shooter = Shooter viewed from a cam. following the character. f.e. Tomb Raider

RTS = Real Time Strategy = Strategy game viewed from a free-floating camera. f.e. Red Alert

TBS = Turn-Based Strategy = Same as RTS but Turn-based instead of real time. f.e. Civilization

RPG = Role Playing Game = A game where your character improve in skills over time and dialogue is an integral part of quests, usually in third person view. f.e. Kotor

Hack&Slash = a game similar to RPGs except it's mostly about killing creatures.
f.e. Diablo

Tactical Shooter/FPS = A game where you play in a squad to complete objectives.
f.e. Rainbow Six

Hybrids:
FPRPG = First Person Role Playing Game = f.e. Deus Ex
TBSRPG = Turn Based Strategy and Role Playing Game = f.e. Heroes of Might an magic-series

There are of course alot more but those where the ones I thought of on the top of my head

Light travels faster than sound,
that's why people seem bright,
until you hear them.
