A carbon-copy of the original, completely devoid of spark

The whole movie was just random children running up to a group of kids, explaining their life story, and then advancing the plot.

The film tramples on everything that was good about the original. They even parrot back dialogue that seems to belittle the magic and mystery that captivates the eight-year-old mindset. Hayley explictly states they are 12 and so they don't subscribe to such nonsense as "The Great Fear"

Who thinks that dialogue is witty, or funny?
It's fuc|<ing terrible.

"I can't help but notice that there are skulls all over everything. Are we the baddies?"
