I'm perplexed - straight to DVD?

The cast is quite good; A-list even. It managed to gain admittance into TIFF as well.

No US distributor was game and picked it up? It seems like a very accessible movie. It didn't even manage to get a limited release.

One of the posters mentioned he's in the movie and said that the best scripts are the ones where every actor wants in. Fair enough. The script probably was a very intriguing read, getting actors - Aaron Eckhart, Ian Mckellan, Brittany Murphy, Nick Nolte, Vera Farminga, Jessica Lange, William Hurt, Alan Cumming, and Michael Moriarty - saying, "Man, this is amazing!"

This was the director's first feature film, but what on earth happened? Maybe the actors mistook an interesting read for a solid script? I don't know. Said poster also mentioned that the actors were fine being paid scale wages so their urge to do it must've been some sort of creative excellence on part of the director.

Once I think more about it, the listed actors aren't known to take on "good" projects or roles. They may be good/solid actors, but their filmography is peppered with a number of head scratchers. I guess this is one where all of the "not so good at picking scripts/roles" type of actors all ended up on the same set. Maybe their agents thought it was a good idea to get on board.

**The stills do make it look like a B-rated movie that was made in the late 90s/early 2000s, though.**

Baffles me too. Watched it tonight and didnot realize this is a celebration of the late and beautiful Britney Myrphy. RIP.
