Why does everyone hate this movie so much? I thought it was an all around beautiful movie. The costumes were incredible, the effects were great, and the way it was shot was fantastic. Sure the story was a little far fetched, but who cares? Most fantasy stories are.
Is there anybody else who absolutely loved this movie?
I absolutely agree. Can't understand why it isn't getting more love.. it was simply beautiful and quite original.
shareFor people who have alot of exprience with Chinese and HK cinema The Promise is really nothing new and actually pretty bad compared to the myriad of memorable period fantasy films that predated it. However for people who aren't so familier with Chinese cinema The Promise is a fresh, foreign and original experience, the likes of which are rearely seen in hollywood.
I personally thought the film had a great storyline and cast but due to too much focus on visual effects and less on fluency of storyline, was made decent at best and somewhat forgettable.
Of course this just might be because I have seen many other Chinese fantasy films , and in that respect have something to compare The Promise to.
I dont care what ppl say bout this movie or how much they bad mouth it but yeah all i know is that I enjoyed it a lot and that it was an amazin movie with a nice n touchy storyline with good fantasy n stuff,superb special effectz,good cast and actin and all the other thingz I wanted to see in this movie but yeah whatever...
sharei think that the ppl who were disappointed about it were the ppl who went in expecting this to be groundbreaking. if ppl just keep an empty slate and take the film for what it is (i.e. entertainment), i dont see y we cant just enjoy a beautifully filmed piece of cinema.
