China's answer to The Lord of The Rings?

I have no problems with fantasies. In fact, I love fantasies. But this was just bad. It gives fantasy a bad name. I wonder where all the money went? Into the pockets of corrupt Chinese officials, probably. Asian Cinema has been going downhill in the last decade!! pfft

Asian Cinema has been going downhill in the last decade!!

are you kidding me?! you obviously have not seen the lastest korean films.

Folks don't call me 'the Torturer' because I don't like to torture people.

If they can produce quality like Lord of the Rings, then I wouldn't mind watching it, but sadly not. :( HAHAA

Where did you hear about the answering LOTR?
Who said this was the answer to LOTR?

I have never read or hear that from the director or company.

The beauties of the two movies are completely different.

Where did the money go?

There are stars from Japan, Korea, and Hong Kong. They costed big money. Maybe they should not hire them next time. That would save a bundle. Besides, Cecilia Cheung cannot act.

And look at the sets. They costed money.

And look at the all the action sequences. It costed big money to sit there day after day to come up with the ideas, discuss them, and finally carry them out. Not one shot looks like a 5 second idea and implementation. All of them look well thought out, and tried different ways before finalizing the shots.

Corrupt officials? What is that all about?

Yes, making a movie isn't an easy job, but that is no excuse for failure. Lol

The two leads from Hong Kong are not actors. They are stars. They cannot act at all. I mean at all. I do not care because I do not expect them to know how to act.

Besides "The Great Parade", in which Chen directed and Zhang held the cameras, these two never had any good and big story that I care about. The only difference between the stories of their recent films and older ones, is they stopped portraying China as a bad bad bad bad bad bad and sad sad sad sad sad place. I think that is one of the reason some of the people are bad mouthing about them.

"Curse of Golden Flowers"? Expect it to be about high ranking people fighting over very very small things. Just like all those Kung Fu TV shows and fictions.

HOWEVER, if it is good looking, I will still watch it.
