Chinese people should not give their opinion on chinese movies -_-
On non-chinese sites that is.
Seriously though.
Like someone else said in some other topic, it must be something cultural. Because if movies like The Promise, Hero, and House of Flying Daggers are considered bad in China, it must be explained by something cultural. If you look at them from a western point of view, thus usually lacking the knowledge of Chinese culture and language, those movies are true art pieces. Whatever you may say about acting and the language used, thank god I'm ignorant to it. The Promise in particular, although it contained some little flaws, is artistically a great movie. What's wrong about having *beep* special effects? Sometimes *beep* special effects just adds to the atmosphere. Personally I thought American movies like Ultraviolet and Aeon Flux to have way worse effects.
It's _truly_ sad to see a good, different movie like this get dissed by ignorant nitpickers, complaining about all the wrong reasons.
People like you really piss me off.
