Hey, I actually liked this one, not your usual SciFi channel schlock-fest. Was I the only one who got the warm tinglies inside when Chase Masterson`s character got slimed?

This one was actually pretty decent! Heather Donohue has clearly been working out... and Robert Beltran clearly hasn't. :P

The creature itself was pretty cartoon-ish - one of the least convincing of recent Sci-Fi creatures I've seen....but it wasn't on screen that much.

What really impressed me was the way Bulgaria looked convinciongly like Iraq, and how the interaction among the soldiers was very realistic.

Wondering where the producers ever got an APC....

Michael Cory Davis (playing Davis, the African American squad member) had several very touching moments, where he's recording a video goodbye to his girlfriend Keisha, and then as he dies, he wants them to get the tape to her.

Honestly, if this had an extra $30 million attached to the budget, the manticore itself would have looked awesome, the main villain would have been played by Arnold Vosloo, the Sarge would have been played by Samuel L. Jackson, Corporal "Kinks" would have been played by Michelle Rodriguez, and the GNN reporter would have been played by Mira Sorvino; the manticore would have looked "real," and critics would be applauding the return of the slam-bang action/horror movie. Script, direction, sets, costumes, etc. could have been exactly the same - all it would hav eneeded was $$ for a bigger "name" cast, $$ for better sfx, and $$ for advertising to lure people into the theatres. In this day and time, that's the on;y real difference between an A-movie and a B-movie.

And any film where Jonas Talkington crams cookies into his mouth can't be all bad. ;)

That's cute, completely wrong, but cute.
