Saw this for the first time

Would have watched it a long time ago but kept putting other films ahead of it. I'm a big fan of Romola Garai and thought she was brilliant in this but I was blown away by James McAvoy. This piece was so emotional on so many levels. The guy that played Michael made me cry so hard at the end. This movie has left a deep and profound impression on me. They didn't have a shot in the world but they tried. In spite of all their obstacles, they tried like hell to make life work for them. I tear up just thinking about it. I've seen McAvoy in a lot of things but this has got to be my all time favorite.

Agree, this movie is so emotional. 11 years ago I've watched it on the DVD and instantly in love with the 3 main characters. It was touch my heart, but I didn't cry. Re-watch it again as a grown up, I feel REALLY emotional. My best friend has MD (he's 28!) and I realized that Rory struggle was real. And yes, Michael also made me cry. It's not because I pity him, but it's heartbreaking to be in his position. When Siobhan rejected him at the party I was like, "No, at least wait until the song ended." ---and don't do that in front of so many people (---and again in front the new PA too). When Michael and Rory on the bridge, it was the most heartbreaking scene. There's no subtitles, but I'm sure Michael said, "I, I am, I am hurt", ---I'm sure that he feel like he's lost his dignity...

My first time too and its 2023! Fabulous actors and totally believable but I was bummed out the entire day today. Very sad and emotional. The frustrations of the two men were palatable..Very intense. I first thought they were actors with true disabilities thats how good they were. God bless anyone with such struggles.
